Huge affordable burrito with some of the tastiest carnitas I’ve ever had. Line might be long but it moves fast! Great veggie burrito option as well where they add avocado and cheese instead of meat
What a hidden gem this is. Located in Grand Central Market in LA, they have every taco imaginable here. You'll definitely need to be on the more adventurous side to try some of them though.
Located in Central Market in historic LA which is grittier than DTLA just so you know before heading that way. Much of this part of LA shuts down at 9p and metal doors cover most of the store fronts. Tacos Tumbras had more authentic meat selections than I've seen anywhere else. I got there late and they were out of a few things including lingua but they did have birria (stewed goat meat) and it was fantastic. I didn't love the Al Pastor as much but it was good. Tacos are $5 and I got 3 unwittingly but they stuff them so full of meat that I could only tackle 2. Chip and salsa were really good too. In short, I loved it and will go back when next in LA.
I'm a native Houstonian who moved to LA six years ago. Tacos are life in Houston. I got a great taste of my old home today. 1 each Asada, Carnitas, Pastor, Lingua, fed 3 as adults for $20. Delicious ? Service was great, line moved quickly, i recommend.
Fast casual Mexican eatery with a small menu. They serve tacos, burritos, quesadillas and a couple other options. However, their selection of meat is on point. Choose from over 7 different types of meat for your food. I got the asada, delicious. Each taco is rather large and comes with 2 corn tortillas. It is seasoned well and I recommend the hot salsa. Great place for fast service at a great price.
Al Pastor tacos had too much cumin (or was it something else?), and rule #1 of Mexican Food is that you use cumin moderately. Portions are nice, so my points mainly go to that.
One of the perks of serving jury duty in DTLA is that you're just a few blocks from Grand Central Market, and the juror's lunch break is typically a generous hour and a half. There's always a line for this spot (a good sign), but it moves super quick, so like 5 mins tops. $5 may sound like a lot just for 1 taco, but you will receive a plate piled full of whatever meat you ordered- enough to make at least 2 or 3 BIG tacos out of- which is also why they give you additional tortillas to wrap it all up in. I've tried a few of the meats- all have been flavorful and great tasting, and if you choose to finish everything on your plate you will be very full! Also their house hot sauce is decently hot, but also flavorful which is always a plus. Nothing unusual, or out of the box here- just really good tacos and you get your moneys worth!
Tacos Tumbre is located the the Central Market in downtown LA. I ordered the Al Pastor Gordita and it looked huge. I had to ask for some salsa on the side and it seemed like the guy was unhappy that I asked for it. He did give me a small side of salsa. When I sat down to eat the Gordita, the bread used was hard as a rock and it was so tough I couldn’t even bite into it. I ended up just eating the Al Pastor filling with a fork which was delicious. The portion was large and the meat was very filling. I would probably stick to a taco next time.
Meaty excellent tongue tacos! The best tacos I ever have! Love it!!
I normally love this place and I order their asada (steak) burrito. This was my first time ordering their Al Pastor (marinated pork), and I got multiple bones in my burrito. Neck bone, parts of a rib and shards were mixed into the meat and if I wasn’t on the lookout after biting into a neckbone, I think I would’ve choked.
