The shrimp burrito was interesting, smothered in some kind of spicy powder… but their hibiscus tea tasted like corn syrup & was positively atrocious. When I asked for a refund (it was $6.99 after all), the Latina cashier was quite snarky. To make matters worse, the water from their communal self-serve station had a slight orangeish tint… now I feel myself becoming Sick! That’s what I get for trying a new place… should have stayed to the tried & true….
Okay... o...kay. So, I've heard about Sky's Gourmet Tacos and I had mild interest in trying it out. I was even happy when a couple of people who were finishing up told me it was their first time too and they really enjoyed it.Well...The establishment...is cute. It has this wonderful outdoorsy, chill vibe. There's a big screen menu where you place and pick your order. And the menu items were extremely reasonable. I ordered 2 chicken tacos and 1 canitas taco. My mom had lunch with me and she ordered the chicken Nachoes.I don't think chicken is their thing. Now, if you're looking for a taco place that is really light handed on seasoning to where you cannot taste it, okay. You found your place. The carnitas taco was pretty good and that probably had something to do beef naturally having more flavor. Personal opinion. But overall, I was underwhelmed by the flavor of the food. The salsa they provided sweet and hot which was unexpected. I also ordered an Arnold Palmer, which, with the homemade lemonade was delightful and refreshing. My mom wss not a fan on her nachoes at all. She asked for pinto beans in her nachoes in her meal, they gave her black beans instead. Hmmm.Would I be going back? Um. We'll see.
I had the nachos with chicken. Not really good just barely okay. Customer Service was almost not available. The nachos were bland without flavor, although a couple of the chips had salt on them which gave them some flavor. The salsa (at least the red one) was pretty sweet ?. That was odd, and unwanted. I wouldn't return for another visit. My daughter had tacos chicken, and carne asada. She stated they were without seasoning save for the carne asada one. Not worth $4+ a piece. However, she did say they were pretty weighty. Wouldn't get them again, or maybe just the carne asada one. The Nachos we're over $10.
Gourmet tacos? More like, I've made better tacos at home. You can't have a title like, Sky's Gourmet Tacos and then bring out below standard dishes. The meat was so dry, thank God for water. My dish looked cheap but I guess to give it a gourmet spin they added some pieces of Cilantro on top.Over priced for what you get, I've had better food from a street food truck.Sidenote: My husband did say he loved the cheesecake, but not his meal hence the 1 star.
I have been dying to try this place and yesterday i finally did!. I order 6 tacos 3 fish and 4 vegan. The shrimp and salmon were my absolute favorite!!!!! And the black bean, shitaki mushroom, and potato tacos!!! Were slamming!! I also had a side of pinto beans with rice amazing flavors!!.I washed it down with some lemonade BBAAABBBBYY! WHEN I SAY THAT WAS THE BEST HOMEMADE LEMONADE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!! I WANT A GALLON JUST TO MYSELF.I also tried the caramel crunch cheesecake..i can see why it was votes best cheesecake in LA.Long story short I will definitely be back the food and service was amazing!
Sky's is a hidden gem for tacos in LA's mid-city. They have been doing tacos ? with a Southern flair way before taco trucks entered the scene. And, they always do it well. I love the chicken, pork, and steak tacos with the sorrel lemonade. Go for the tacos and skip the sides. Great, fast service for lunch or dinner. Or, eat at the patio with friends and watch them grill the meat for tomorrow's tacos - you'll be back!
Good vibes. Nice L shaped outdoor seating area that is maximized for chill. Got a mushroom bowl for 12 bucks and it was yummy. I can see myself coming back.
One of the best restaurant in the area and excellent food.
Food at its perfection! Tasting and good... Really anything coming out of the kitchen is high quality and the best!
I have driven by this place so many times and never stopped. That was mistake, this place is really great and I regret not stopping by sooner.Food was excellent. I got the carnitas breakfast burrito, it was truly very good and you can't go wrong with it. Prices are very fair as well, not typical of LA.
