I went to visit L.A. a few years ago from Atlanta. Beleive it was 2018. 1 if the best oxtail meals I've ever had and that's saying a LOT! I plan on visiting again soon and this will be the FIRST place I stop for a meal.

Simply D's is a special place offering homestyle delicious soul food. There's plentiful parking on the street, I parked in the adjacent lot which belongs to a luggage company after a confirmation it was ok to park there.Order from a tiny window, or call ahead. Old fashioned food made from scratch, like the food here takes time, so be prepared to wait unless you call in your order. The social distancing requirements here are pretty great. Masks required and worn. With only a couple of tables outside, no indoor dining, you'll have the place to yourself in the open air, beneath an umbrella, if you want to dine in.Choose from inexpensive lunch specials like chicken strip basket, or go big time with the house special oxtail dinner, with sides. (Big enough to share)The red beans and rice has that 'been simmering all day with a bay leaf flavor, the greens are as good as it gets, to me. So good I had to ask the woman I ordered from if it was her behind the recipe, so I knew who to compliment. If you want some good food that tastes like it took all day to make, you'll love it here.Minority owned and operated. Woman owned and operated. COVID friendly. Great old fashioned food.

Food was so Good we from Buffalo NY. This the best I ever had gumbo chicken wings. The food for all of us was so Good.

food was spoon Good we from Buffalo NY. they treated us well!! I am travel agent I'll make sure I tell ppl about the food

The one star is only for the fried chicken. I’ve been working in customer relations for years so I really don’t condone poor customer service. If you’re going to be disrespectful at least have heavenly side dishes....even yet still that’s a automatic elimination. I was reading other people’s reviews and wondering what happened, but I wish it weren’t so.A friend and I discovered this place and tried their chicken it was great, but the side dishes are whatever. I don’t live particularly live close to this place but I make a trip for certain things— So, I later ordered the fried chicken meal for pick up right before normal kitchen close time (which is often 30mins before restaurant close time), and I got my order which was great. A day later I was cautious to call earlier and given that there was no problem last time, and if there was I thought the black lady who handles all orders would say something but she didn’t. This time around I call to order a whole hour before closing and she’s telling me “the chicken has to be cooked and then I have to pick it up and xyz....she doesn’t want to accept my order”I’m just politely on the phone confused that someone is receiving business an hour before closing time and is complaining about having to cook and wait for pick up?...The whole point of calling to order is so that I can save them time (not have to get there right at 7:30PM and THEN order. Some black businesses fail for this very issue; lack of adequate communication skills and no customer service acumen. Our people have to do better, but yet you want us to support black businesses. This whole encounter made me realize, some “businesses” don’t even want business. They just create a name, put little effort and expect the tribe to support a sorry excuse for a meal or business. Moreover, the location is poor, but sometimes you tell yourself it’s worth the try— in this case it’s not. The sides do suck and are just an excuse to make you pay a couple bucks more because honestly it doesn’t do much. The chicken is good, but not worth the terrible customer service and honestly they would be out of business if they failed at this protein. I have reason to believe that the People who glorify the food here have either never had real soul food, or have undeveloped taste buds.

Honestly I went on a Sunday morning... all the good service must have been at church, cause the lady at window was not nice. There was no one else there and 2 chicken plates took 45 minutes plus to prepare. Mac n cheese was cold and bland. Greens were decent chicken was pretty good. Overall I'm not coming back. Out of Kool aid out of lemonade out of ice but worst of all out of polite workers.

I paid $16 for shrimp and grits. Smallest portion of shrimp and grits i have ever had, there was five little shrimps and the shells were still on, no flavor, not coming here again

Koko’s Kitchen is serving there and you must taste her fried ribs!!!

Chicken is cooked to order so be patient, mac and cheese has no soul and the red beans and rice could use some more seasoning.

I tried this restaurant for the first time yest. I ordered the shrimp and grits. My total was $16 and some change. The food was def cooked fresh and the staff was nice, good energy. The wait was a little long but they were a good experience. Only 2 complaints would be the top of the dish had a lot of oil. And the menu. Idk if it’s bc or covid or not but their menu now is Def more limited than the pics ppl have posted in th past.
