One of the best bars in downtown Los Angeles. Full stop. A place to stop and enjoy a fine drop of scotch or whiskey, with or without friends, and usually accompanied by some pretty incredible music. For extra credit, make a reservation at Bar Jackalope for a tasting, or an intimate soiree.
A beautifully designed, traditional whiskey bar that feels like a step back in time to a classier era. Not only beautiful interiors, but amazing cocktails, people and staff. We went on a quieter Sunday night, entered the closed ground floor level but were certainly impressed when we were directed to the upstairs bar. It had two very nice, clean, new pool tables, a great space for the band who started at 10pm and an adjoining smoking area with comfy seating that was well fanned. This really does feel like a classy establishment, and although you'll pay the price for it a bit, it's worth every dime and dollar. 100% recommend to anyone looking for a bar in the area. The band on the night (quite drunk but I think they were the Guthmore Brothers) were perfect for the setting and provided lovely soulful, bluesy, old school covers and the likes. Excellent in every way! The scotch selection is world class, the decor is perfectly and thoughtfully put together and the ambience is what a great whiskey establishment should be. Shout out to our passionate bartender Eden who really added to the experience and Leo who was wonderful!
Impressive, massive, extensive collection of Whiskey that I’ve ever been, comparable to the one I’ve been to in Tokyo. Place can get busy, loud and crowded but the bartenders are attentive so you’ll get your drinks in 5-10 minutes. Not very much seating available, can either sit on the bar stool or stand for a bit no problem.On the way to the bathroom you will see their Whiskey collection over the years which is admirable. Unfinished Whiskey bottles by famous people with their tags on.There is also a Speakeasy within it but it was 2am and we didn’t get to try it.
So many different types of whisky. I believe they have happy hour till 8pm and they also have a live band and the genre changes everyday. They have a couple if pool tables. There are a good selection of beer and cocktails too. All in all, it's a good place to hang with your friends on a night out.
This is my type of place! Incredible selection of whiskeys, and they make a delicious old fashioned (many options there). Turned me on to a new favorite whiskey even! (And I thought I was an expert). A couple pool tables inside and even a small balcony area for us smokers! This place is legit!
This place is awesome! The drinks are really good, the staff are friendly, the vibe is on point and they have live music. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a great experience. Lots of seating options indoors and outdoors and they have pool tables. Huge whiskey selection, dim lighting and the place smells of rich mahogany and leather bound books.
Excellent spot & great drink selection. The Bartenders are great, the crowd is great & feels more business casual. Great cigar smoking area with seating on the side patio. Also a great pool place.
Something very strange happened to my family last night. We took our daughter for her 21st birthday. We walked to this establishment after having dinner at another local restaurant. We all ordered our cocktails and within 10 minutes my daughter said she wasn't feeling good, she said she couldn't see or hear anything and she started to fall down. While her dad started to hold her because she was already going to the ground, he fell down as well, completely passed out! He was completely out of it, eyes open, non responsive, like he had died. I started yelling to call 911 but nobody did! The staff just kept saying to take them outside for air. After a couple of minutes they both woke up like NOTHING happened! They were both gone for a couple of minutes and suddenly they were perfectly fine! I know this sounds crazy, and it is crazy for me too. I had both of them on the ground out of nowhere! I probably will never know what happened and it's so frustrating. My daughter had never had whiskey but her dad has, plenty of times! I was drinking as well. The staff was helpful by taking them outside and then they called 911. The paramedics took their vitals and they were both perfect! I won't be coming back because of this awful experience. It's extremely strange to me that 2 completely different people pass out after just 3 sips of their drink and wake up like nothing happened.
This is a very dope bar/speakeasy. Go listen to a live band and socialize while having a very huge selection of spirits to choose from. You can even set your own personal bottle, on a shelf, behind a locked glass locker door, so that you can have some for later. I'll have my own bottle Blantons next time.
