This chicken is incredible. It’s a shame there are only two of these places left (it’s an interesting story, Google it for details). If you’re anywhere near LA it is absolutely worth a drive, it is the crispiest chicken I’ve ever had and not overly greasy. Sides are solid too!
Where can I start on this one. This chicken has to be the best I've had so far. Its juicy, crispy, and tender as well. Spicy rice was really good too, which has a spice kick to it. Biscuit was fresh and soft as well.
Amazing food.Second time dining in. Still amazing. Chicken was hot and delicious. Got the 12 piece meal, definitely worth it ! Shoutout to Jessica for the customer service feels like family. Definitely check this place out if you haven’t !!
Why did you leave the Bay Area? The chicken was fantastic!!! Brought back childhood memories including the nutcase in the parking lot fighting with himself ?. The spicy rice was soft, flavorful and a great compliment to the fried chicken. My son said the fish and chips was better than average. Please open up a franchise in the Bay Area. Preferably in SF or Oakland.
Was so stoked to see one still operating! It'd been at least 20 years since the last time I had Pioneer! The food was legendary delicious and the service was great!! Such friendly, sweet, professional customer service! It's a 20 mile drive but definitely going back for more!
Founded in 1961, way before my birth, I have heard about Pioneer Chicken many times growing up in San Diego and know at one point they had 270 locations operating around the southwest including Hawaii, although now it’s down to just two locations left. It’s a part of LA history and United States fast food history as well. They’re famous for their super crispy, crunchy outside skin and juicy inside. Honestly it’s really delicious fried chicken and a seriously nice treat if you’re in the mood for this type of food. I have pretty much tried all the sides and can say each of them is a solid option. Both locations can get very busy so parking can be tricky at certain times but it’s worth the wait because honestly the lines are never too long.Definitely some of the best fried chicken in all Los Angeles and it’s worth going for the history alone.
Decades ago, I remember having Pioneer Chicken as our modest family's go-to for fried chicken. I knew there were a few left, but was never in the area, until now. Service was great and I was able to order a box of freshly cooked legs and thighs to-go. While waiting we decided to eat in, and reactivated long lost taste buds with that signature consistent crispy texture. Washing it down with the obligatory whipped orange drink, I was able to relive simpler times. We've already committed to going back at the next opportunity, and will pick up an OG t-shirt as well!
OMG this chicken is so good. I thought there were not anymore locations left. Good to see them still in operation and the chicken is still fresh hot juicy with crispy skin. Yes now I can tell my family where to go get it?
I have not had Pioneer chicken in over 20 years. Nothing has changed still savory and crispy fried chicken.Well worth the trip from Pasadena to Los Angeles.
really good taste the same
