If you are looking for good, authentic Thai food like in Thai Town, this place isn’t it. The food was fine, but too sweet for my liking (gave me American Chinese takeout vibes, but for Thai food). Some people might enjoy this but for me and my party, it felt like the cookie/fortune cookie felt like it was trying to compensate for something.EDIT:My party got the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and a vegetarian curry. The prices here are high compared to some other restaurants that serve Thai Chinese dishes and the food is sweeter. Because of how long it took to get seated and get our food, we were hungry and since we did not want to overwhelm the staff who took a long time to get us a bowl of rice, we did not complain.
Love the atmosphere of this restaurant. The portions were on par with most other Thai food. The flavor was excellent. There were some things that I didn't especially like, but that's more opinion than anything else. Had spring rolls for an appetizer, very crisp with good flavor. I had the pad see ew, my friend had pad Thai. Both dishes were very good, could probably use a bit more spice. One thing that was not lacking in spice was the Natalees Rice, very spicy, I liked it and my friend did not. So be mindful if sharing. Atmosphere was great, however dining on the patio doesn't get much attention from the servers. Good experience, not my favorite, but would definitely go again.
Love this place...food was outstanding. Thai iced tea was refreshing and delightful. Mai tai as well. The main course of beef with kimchi side was excellent as was the house fried rice. Other than that the restsurant itself is dated and a little dirty - windows on outside doors were greasy and unappetizing. Service was a tad slow as well, but overall a special treat for a mid-day hump day lunch date.
I wish I could give this place 6 stars! I was invited here by a friend who promised me it would blow my mind away and IT DID!!! The flavors! The quantity of the food! Amaze-balls! Two things on the menu that you need to try: The Heavenly combo meal (it REALLY is heavenly), and the Duck or fried duck. It is literally amazing. Thank me later!
I remember Natalee's from 30 yrs ago, where they were located across the street from the current locations. That was truly the best Thai place in town. Even years later , they kept the right level. Now, it was a disaster. The service was , let's say , ok. Nothing special. The food was horrendously awful. Tempura shrimp - I don't think they know anymore what a tempura batter should be and what oil to deep fry it in ! Not to mention the quality of shrimp themselves. Tom Ka Gai - pieces of chicken meat had bones/joints parts in them - mechanically separated meat ?! - I would be darn curious where they buy it? what is the quality of that meat ?! Pad see ew - swimming in oil/fat with seriously mushy soft noodles. Frankly, never again. And the reason for the total fiasco was not only the product selection , but a quick peak into the kitchen, made me realize that none of the chefs, cooks, helpers may even know where Thailand is, much less have a native taste for Thai food.
Overall : good portian and quality but did expect a lot more of them.Sunday afternoon, no wait time, for appetizers, we order wontons which was super crispy but not to meaty. For entrees, we ordered pad Thai and California curry. The pad thai was good portion but lacks some nuts and flavor.California curry was mot very impressive.
Natalee Thai on Venice Blvd near Culver City has got to be over 20 years old. They were originally in the strip mall catty-corner from where they built this wonderful building they occupy. The building and the restaurant are showing their age. This place used to get so busy, forget getting in on a Friday or Saturday night. Natalee Thai is still a great place to get a very good meal. I'm a big fan of the Rama Ribs and the Thai Chicken. Great noodle dishes too. Everything is good basically. There is a full bar. I think they still serve sushi but that has been on and off a couple of times over the years. The place is an old favorite I patronize often. I suggest they freshen it up a little bit.
Love this place! I've been going for years. I bring all of my out of town guests. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Good portions and prices. Great food. Proof of vaccination required for indoor eating (Jan 2022).
Wonderful bar staff. Wish I remembered her name! I like that the staff and customer base have some diversity. Delicious Massaman curry, very filling, and sake has great value and a little oomph to it.
Do not order for delivery!!!! They don’t know how to manage it. Food is good but you have to call and pick it up. DO NOT USE THEIR CHOWNOW ONLINE ORDER SYSTEM!!!! 2 hours for delivery ordered at 6:40 on a Monday. An hour later I was informed of the delay via email. I went to get my food at 7:30 after calling to complain and it was already prepared suiting on the self for the driver to delivery it at 8:20. They were overwhelmed with orders and were to greedy to take my money rather than hit pause on the order system so the could execute the orders they already took properly. If you make it easier for them by using the automated system you will get old cold food because of greedy mismanagement.
