This is dry ramen that you mix with some sauce. And after finishing the ramen, you’ll mix the leftover sauce with rice. Amazing sauce and the exact type of comfort food I was looking for. Could not be happier about this place. Wish they would open where I live now.
I had the Impossible Tokyo Mazemen, which is vegan and DELICIOUS. The Mazemen dishes (they have a bit of sauce instead of a ton of broth like traditional ramen) were a huge hit with my group. The flavor profiles were fantastic. The fake meat in my dish--whatever it was--tasted like real meat. Do yourself a favor and add some of their homemade vinegar once you've eaten a little. It's soooooo good. They also had actual gluten free options that were well-loved. Would love to come back!
Chicken karaage: comes drizzled with a sweet, tangy sauce and a separate spicy, savory sauce on the side. Really hits the spot if you’re craving fried chicken.Tokyo mazemen: super rich in flavor, can’t ask for more if you’re craving mazemen. I’ve gotten the Deluxe before, if you’re debating between the two I’d recommend the Deluxe (comes with everything the Tokyo has plus chashu and a soft boiled egg). Definitely be ready to split this into two meals though.Service was good, special shout-out to the server who ran out to give me my hand sanitizer that I had left on the table ?
My friends love this place but I personally don't get the hype; I feel like it might be a little too salty for my taste. However, the atmosphere is nice and the service is great (they let us sit outside for an extra half hour before they told us they'd already closed, oops!)All the mazemen come with some rice at the end to finish your extra sauce! I feel like the rice is a little softer than I'd like, but it's definitely a nice touch. Also, be sure to add some extra ground sesame before you start eating!- Tokyo (4/5): This is already a lot of food! It tastes fairly similar to the deluxe, but is a more manageable size- Deluxe (4/5): This is basically the Tokyo & the Kyoto combined, and is an unwieldy amount of food. I've only finished this once when I was incredibly hungry and I was stuffed afterwards!
This hidden gem has been one of my favorites since they opened a few years ago! I love dry ramen and Mogumogu knows how to do it well!! I always get the deluxe mazemen because it comes with 2 types of eggs ? I loveee both poached and soft boiled egg so you get the best of both [email protected] on IG for moreeeI love eating the noodles with a lottt of the vinegar sauce because it brings a nice tart flavor. This dish is truly decadent because it combines so many rich flavors into one bowl. At the end of your meal, they provide you with even MORE carbs and give you rice to mix in with the remaining sauce. The rice always pushes me over the edge but it’s soo delicious..Also pro tip: get the mogu chicken (chicken karaage)!!! It is perfectly tender on the inside and crispy on the outside .. I love it ? the dipping sauce also pairs really well!?Price:$25/pp
Tokyo style for the win, ramen with out the heft. Perfectly mixed with a rice surprise to cut the rich delectable flavors.
First time trying out MoguMogu was this past Saturday. We went right as they opened and luckily too because it got busy fast! We were a group of 5 and seated right away inside. The inside is small and there's some tables outside. They checked COVID-19 vaccination for ppl sitting inside and require you to wear a mask until you were eating/sitting down. One person came in without a mask and picked up his order. Anyways, 3 out of 5 of us ordered the deluxe (see pictures attached) and the rest ordered the cheese one. Both are very yummy. The noodles were definitely the show stopper -- firm yet slippery is that makes any sense. The flavors of both the deluxe and cheese were very distinct and yummy. Highly recommend! At first, I was very hesitant about "brothless ramen" but I became a believer after this delicious experience. There is a little bit of broth/sauce, and you're supposed to mix it all together. Then eat your food, and you can add vinegar to change the taste profile (I just added a little bit in my spoon -- I prefer without the vinegar), and then at the end, they give you a very small scoop of white rice to finish up three rest of your dish. Nice staff, gets packed fast. Enjoy!
My fiance and I shared a deluxe bowl. It was amazing. The ingredients are so fresh, the noodles are the perfect amount of firmness, and everything tied perfectly in together. A lot of food for a great price, too!Don't forget to try the homemade vinegar.
I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to try dry ramen, but here we are. And I LIKE IT. I don’t have much to compare this to, but all the flavor was still rich and layered (I was afraid it wouldn’t be without the broth). Surprisingly filling! Also, it’s outside the general craziness of sawtelle, so I had a better experience with parking.
This is absolutely mind-blowing amazing. I can't believe my entire life I never knew this existed and I thought I tried all the Asian food there is to try.You absolutely have to get the Deluxe Mazeman. It's an incredible experience that I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. In terms of the appetizers, they're not a must.If you're still reading this review, you need to stop and go get yourself a bowl of heaven. Expect to pay $25-35 per person when getting appetizers & drinks with it.
