Disappointing. Apparently some Montreal bagels and smoked meat flew from Montreal to die on a plate bereft of flavour and imagination. Such a waste of jet fuel.Indifferent, ignorant, and slow service. The hollandaise sauce was just some raw egg yolk dumped over cold eggs and get this, their Canadian bacon was turkey bacon. Yuck. A five year old could have served a better breakfast. A travesty and a dishonour to Montreal food.
So disappointing. Québécoise living in LA for 16 years, I was looking forward to not having to make my own Montreal smoked meat! It was rancid, couldn't even stand the smell. The rye bread wasn't even steamed or warmed, not good at all. Breakfast sandwich had no condiments whatsoever, eggs, cheese and smoked meat. That's it. At least the bagel was decent. Gravy on the poutine is all wrong, the cheese isn't curds and the fries are frozen precuts. So expensive, decent service seemed like an imposition on the empty restaurant, waiter didn't care and charged us full amount after we mentioned the meat was bad and didn't touch more than half our meal. After wondering about this place since it opened, I no longer have to. I know and I won't be back.
A remarkably disappointing experience.Came here specifically for the advertised lure of Montreal food - it very much was not. A smoked meat sandwich not only sliced far too thin on dry bread, the meat was absolute past its prime. A Montreal smoked meat bagel suffered the same issues, though the bagel was accurate, at least. The poutine featured neither curds nor the appropriate sauce, but rather sliced white cheddar and turkey gravy over previously frozen fries. We ate less than half of each item and explained our displeasure with each, with the intent of providing actual Quebecois feedback, but were met with indifference and a full price check. We should probably have undestood there was a reason that a place which seats 80 was empty at lunchtime on Beverly.Lesson, learned.
Fantastic meal. the smoked meat is simply incredible. great in both the breakfast sandwich and in its own.
Eggs benni with a twist. Extra apple sausage was fire. Outdoor seating. Would recommend to a friend… or you.
Eggs Benedict for $12 should come with atleast a small side salad or fruit, not just a single piece of bread cut in half especially if its not on an English muffin. And is this Canadian bacon or turkey bacon?
Great juices and friendly staff. Omelette was also excellent.
Great quality food and no lines, this is a brunch gem!
Today was our second visit to this cafe. It’s in our neighborhood and we wanted to enjoy breakfast outside now that the rain is gone.As another reviewer mentioned, the smoked meat here is amazing. I had the Mile End Breakfast Sandwich the first time and the smoked meat was what remembered most about the meal. I like that it’s warm and thin, with a lil bit of fattiness. It was a no-brainer to get it again, but this time around, I had it with an Everything Montreal bagel and cream cheese. My partner got the Bacon and Egg Sandwich and although very tasty, we both deemed I made the better choice. Winner winner!Since my partner is from Montreal, we were obligated to try to the Poutine on our first visit. It was just ok by his standards. They have a lot of other items on the menu but we’ll keep coming back for the Montreal bagels and smoked meat!
Excellent food and service! This is our second time here and both times were exceptional. Great tuna fish sandwich, and incredible buttermilk pancakes!
