The"BESTFRIED FISH" Not greasy, very moist inside & red beans/rice, collard greens....delicious! I've had other salmon salad, shrimp, etc. All is very good & I highly reccomend this place!!! Try it & you will go back!...Ms. Bing
From a blk point of view (out of towner). Nothing had seasoning. So although it smelled good it was not the best or worst...just fried fish. I had fried catfish and shrimp... they put the catfish on top of the fries which made them both soggy.I wouldn't come back if I was in the area.
I have never (until I ate from Mel's) ordered ? fish that had zero ?taste at all. Very bland. I've tried both fried & grilled and both times were horrible. Will not make that mistake again. ?
The fish is delicious! It tastes fresh and they get the food out quickly. This is not a sit down place and parking can be difficult at the wrong times but if you order ahead you can just pick up.
Fish was well-seasoned (not just salty) and crispy. Hush puppies and Cole slaw were also well done. Everything is take-out here; and you'll stand on the sidewalk waiting for your order. But it's worth it!My only complaint is that I ordered trout and it took them 15-20 minutes to notify me that they were out of trout. But they made up for it by giving me a double helping of my second choice (sole) and preparing it quickly. I can see why this place has lasted so long. I will be back.

The grilled shrimp, oysters and fish here are my favorite in LA!!! This place has survived the riots, the Lakers dynasties, and everything else in between!The exterior is unassuming and adorned with the names of the all too many victims of police shootings throughout America. Theres always a few people on the corner in front of the "order window" waiting on one of LA's best kept secrets. This place is a jewel in the community! I hope that their rich legacy of keepin quality food at an affordable price never goes away!!All of their staff were compliant and aware of the protocols throughout the pandemic as well.
I delivered Uber from this place and didn't get a chance to go back yet but the food had my car smelling so good for days with their wonderful aroma of seasonings. I can't wait to go back I know it will be good. ??
I am very disappointed, I called for lunch today and SPECIFICALLY told the guy that answered the phone I want my snapper lunch and jar of oysters fried crispy. Everything is soft and mushy even the fries! The fish is still pink in the inside like it is not done. When I say crispy I mean crispy. I WASTED 33.00 dollars. SMH
This fish was the absolute worst & disgusting fish I ever tasted it literally had no taste no seasoning I got it fried hard but it still was extremely soft i got a dinner it came with 3 flimsy pieces for $19.00 I threw my whole meal away. It was my 1st time here but, will not be back.
