I don’t trust anyone that doesn’t love Maury’s. Luckily, I don’t know anyone that doesn’t so far. These are the best bagels in LA, hands down. I’ve been a patron of Maury’s since Jason was slinging bagels in the back of Dinosaur coffee on saturdays, and I was thrilled when the shop finally opened. This is not a bacon/egg/cheese place, so don’t come here expecting that. Coffee, excellent. Bagels, obviously excellent. Lox, coffee cake, danishes (when they have them), cream cheese— all excellent. These are bagels made with care and love. Staff is always excellent, and Jason is about the most quality business owner you’ll find. So when you eat here, you also get to support some truly excellent humans in the process. What a winning situation for everyone involved. When I visit my parents out of state, it’s a requirement I come bearing Maury’s, for good reason.
Okayish place, nothing special. We went here as it’s on eater but wasn’t worth at all. First, there’s no seating available except two tables placed outside, it’s just a take out, parking is a headache as well. The coffee didn’t taste good either, tried their everything bagel which tasted okayish, not coming back.
Onion bagel: 5 starsWhat can I say? Soft, chewy bagel rolled in toasty onion bits. I love onion bagels (especially when I cannot get to NY). Covid compliant, and one has the option to order in person or via smartphone. Aside from bagels, they also offer gourmet cheeses, beverages and coffee. Parking can be a little bit challenging, but drive around and you are will be sure to snag a spot to park in the residential neighborhood. Two tables on the sidewalk serve as dog friendly areas.
Yum! First time eating here and enjoyed the #11 (bagel sandwich with scallion cream cheese with lox, whitefish salad, tomato, and red onion) - grew up in Jersey and lived in NY so felt it satisfied the craving well. Highly recommend ordering pick up via their website before arriving so you don’t have to wait in line! The bread itself had good chew and $16 felt comparable to other lox/cream cheese bagel sandwiches I’ve had (esp since this also had whitefish salad). They didn’t skimp on fillings. This may be a personal preference but the only gripe I have about most bagel places in LA (this place included) is that for their everything bagels, they never put enough toppings or they always put too much of one topping (poppy seed or sesame) that overpowers. Wish I was able to taste more of the onion and salt!
I think… you need to know what you’re getting when you go here. The bagels are _small_ and they have the shiny tops you want, but the flavor is just a bit “meh” overall. Importantly, they only have fish as a protein option, this is not a spot you will find bacon, egg, and cheese.
Had an issue today with my order. I sent my review on the door dash app and just saw a message that said they refunded my account and apologized for the rare occurrence they said. I would have given 3 stars as this issue kept me from eating half of my order but I do appreciate the gesture. I often order from Maury’s and this is the first issue I have had so I would still return as a customer and hope the standards will be back to normal next time. Thank you :)
Love the bagels! When toasted they gave that shiny glassy bubbly skin which is what makes a bagel a bagel (along with high crumb density). They are small bagels, not those glorious small melons at Essa Bagel. But for LA, A+ job.
Absolutely delicious bagels as well as rugelach! Lox was wonderful. The vegan cream cheese is actually stunning. Fabulous staff. Can’t recommend this place enough.
Hidden away neighborhood spot with fast, friendly service. Definitely on the small bagel trend that’s increasingly popular in LA, so less bang doe your buck; but such is the world.
Maury's absolutely slaps. Awesome little spot in Echo Park/Silverlake to get truly amazing bagels."I expected it to be good, but not this good." My friend, John, who I brought to Maury's last week. They're that good. Hard to find a bagel this tasty outside of New York and all the other things people say. Grab some frozen bagels and you can pop a 400-calorie snack whenever you like.
