Jonathan Gold-reviewed?? Say no more. This place has all the hallmarks of a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. It seems so unassuming, yet they got that je sai quois. It’s in their hot sauce, their fish tacos, their friendly service. BUT DONT FORGET TO BRING CASH. Biggest minus, but what can you expect, it’s LA ?

What an experience! Owner/chef greeted us right when we walked in, such a warm and welcoming environment. Walked us through the menu and let me tell you this guy was made to do this! Amazing personality to match his amazing food. Full of life, colors and flavors! Also the home made habanero salsa is delicious. We ordered the aguachiles, fish tacos, CHAPIN ceviche was the tables favorite and the caribena mariscadas was full of flavor and right amount of spice. Can’t wait to go back, one of the best food/restaurant experiences we had in a long time.

The food was so good and the service was excellent

Tucked into an old Mid-Town neighborhood, La Cevicheria is a testament to simple, fresh food with an attitude, i.e., this place is all about ceviche and honors various South American takes on this delicacy including "bloody clams", a Guatemalan variation that has made the place's owners, Carolina and Julio Orellana, locally famous for their expertise with this pre-colonial dish. If you live anywhere in the L.A. Basin, the place is worth a drive.

I went on a Wednesday, around 2 pm. It's a simple place, but with fantastic food and service. It's not a surprise that it's no Michelin guide. Cash only and hard to park. I'm not a person who loves spicy, but even everything was spicy in the right amount, with the right punch. It's not very traditional but very gourmet and elegant in flavor. We asked Veracruzana stew, fish tacos and Concha Negra Mixto. The fish tacos had the perfect texture, like perfect tempura. It's very light and crunchy, and you don't even think it's a fried fish in the middle. Eat as soon as it arrives on the table. The Concha Negra was amazingly balanced in acidity, textures, and freshness. The Veracruzana stew is perfect if you enjoy a Mediterranean aesthetic with capers and olives. Something that was a differential for us was the service. The owner took a good amount of time introducing us to the menu and the recommendation. It definitely, made a huge difference in our experience. I'm going to return for sure :)

Totally disappointed... we all know that prices are going up.. and if you order something you agree to pay the price.. but $10 for a tostada mixta.. when all you got is 1 tinny and thin slice of avocado cut in half.. on top 2 tinny slices of octopus and the container filled whit basically pico de Gallo and crab meat imitation... no way.. if I agree to pay the price I expect to get quality...

First time here and let me just say customer service ?? . The prices were affordable and the food was full of so much flavor !Thank you Julio for the hospitality in yours and your wife’s restaurant, will definitely be back !

It was good. Quite expensive for the serving given. Owner was very friendly and talkative which made the quaint space homey. There is no parking and cash only.

Very nice server. Enjoyed the tostada. Carbiña was spicy and delicious! Tres leches was very nice! Cash only.

Amazing place. Hole in the wall with delicious ceviche, fish tacos, and tres leches for dessert
