We finally made it to Jon & Vinny’s after months of hearing how amazing it is. It definitely lived up to the hype, it was such an amazing meal we left with leftovers and happy full belly’s. We had the Italian salad, meatballs, Os cotto pizza and the spaghetti limone. The highlight standout was the spaghetti limone, the flavor was so bright and punchy, not your typical heavy cheesey Italian dish, we loved it! The meatballs were so moist and mouthwatering, not dry at all and pairing it with the ricotta and foccacia garlic bread, ahh man it’s what dreams are made of.There were two small things that I docked a star for, but I would like to prefix that they are not major inconveniences nor would it stop me from coming back. We secured a reservation for outdoor cabana, in the era of covid you could tell these were added recently, they are very echoey and hot, the fan definitely helped with getting the hot air out and circulating. Plus they are located on the street so you hear all the traffic and have people walking by constantly during your meal. The restaurant was not even half full on the inside it would have been nice to be offered an indoor seat. Second, again minor, but it was my birthday and I didn’t feel as though the staff took any additional special care to make it a better dining experience.
The pasta was delicious. The gem salad was unique and tasty. The desserts were excellent. The atmosphere is vibrant yet warm and inviting. The service was great. Prices are reasonable. My only reason to deduct a star is lack of parking. Parking is rough in the area so be prepared to go a little early to find parking.
It's an awesome Italian pizza restaurant. We are lucky when we walk in we don't need to wait. The pizza is a little bit long to wait but they don't charge me the pizza. 100% good service + good food!
First time visit to this restaurant in LA. With the meal we had two tasting of three Greek "orange" wines for $25 each. A tasting of three small layers per glass. Such prices give high expectations. One of the three wines was litteraly vinager. It looked hazy and tasted like pure vinager. I have opened many bottles of wine in my life but not a single one has turned into vinager. The bottle out of which they served this wine must have been open too long. One can imagine with susch small glasses served. Hygiene, hygiene. I had a Linguini with clams. The clams where cut very finely. No fresh clams,no shells. The sauce was horrible. I wonder if Jon and Vinny have ever been in Italy. A very different experience.
Classic dishes but done so so well. Visited the outlet on a Sunday afternoon (3pm) for a snack - ordered the gem lettuce that was impressive (like you really wouldn’t expect much out of a “salad” but dayuuuummm, the sauce, the cheese, the bread crumbs combi was perfect). Spicy fusilli pasta was really well done as well, sauce was creamy, tomato-y, and full of flavor. So simple but really good. Only had enough space in the tummy for these 2 dishes but we sat by the counter and could see the creation of the other dishes which looks amazing as well. Definitely going back on my next trip to LA.
Great customer service beginning with hostess. Marcos and Daniel were our servers great attitude Marcos gave us a few recommendations on the food which was very helpful this was our first time here on s Slauson and will not be our last GREAR CUSTOMER SERVICE thank you
I love this place. The service is always great, music great, food is great, and the experience is great. The pizzas here are really good. We love the white bronco and the chaparrito. Great variety of salads as well. We were attended my Nora and she was amazing. Will always come back.
We had researched online for our visit in West Hollywood and decided to check this local Italian restaurant primarily due to the menu selection and review by CN Traveler online. Only until we arrived did we know what the challenges would be to first park our car and then hope for a decent, safe table. It's a small place with limited seating and tight quarters; not the ideal setup for a covid restrictive environment. Still, it seemed worth the risk if we got in early dinner, which we did. Be prepared to give extra time for finding a parking location nearby. We finally did end up parking along a neighborhood street which appeared relatively safe. When we walked down the sidewalk to the front entrance, we noticed that in front of the restaurant was what we thought was some sort of construction blocking store front parking. In fact, it was their outdoor seating arrangement. We chose to sit inside. The tables were close together. Still, staff did their best to follow protocols at the time. Jon & Vinny's is known for their "spicy fusilli" but I chose the Kids Pomodoro. For the life of me, I can't think of why I did that. The pomodoro was very good though. I also had the heirloom tomato salad with shaved parmigiano which was also good. My wife had the Apple Salad with persimmons. She really enjoyed that, along with a spiraled zucchini side. All the food items were very good. I think we were just a little nervous about the smallness of the space under the circumstances. When restrictions are more lifted, we may return for another visit. By the way, inside the restaurant is a separate tiny wine shop. I took the opportunity to check it out. Of course, they sell wines that they also have offered in the restaurant. I can't say I was overly impressed with the selection though or the prices. The photos on their website give the impression that the wine shop is bigger than it really is.
First time going to Jon + Vinnys tonight, we don’t live here but have been following along for a while. Finally we got to eat here tonight with friends and Sean our server was absolutely incredible. Loved our whole experience, especially for the first one. He really made it special and gave us such amazing recommendations. We cannot wait to come back next time!
Don’t recommend eating here. It was the worst restaurant of our trip. The food was swimming in oil and very ordinary otherwise. Pasta was as if it was from the kid’s menu. And the bill came out to be the same as what we paid at The Four Season. Service was even worse. It was as if she was doing us a favor by taking our order and bringing our food. Ungrateful with a side of attitude. There are plenty of other amazing restaurants in the area. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.
