How Hot is Too Hot?! After seeing favorable post I decided to treat the extended family to a nice southern meal of chicken & waffles at Hotville Chicken in the Baldwin Hills Plaza. One lost looking couple from Torrance saw the restaurant featured on a morning tv show and asked me what my favorite dish. I told him it was my first time too! Our hopes were high. The décor looked like a lovey southern restaurant complete with a covered porch for outdoor dining. The air was filled with the aroma of sweet fluffy Belgian waffles and fresh-out-of-the-oven peach cobbler (a seasonal special) and because there was a slight mix-up with our online order, they gave us complimentary sweet tea while we waited. Unlike Dave’s this place has a big menu with about nine side dishes including yams, collard greens, and of course mac & cheese. They even have fired fish. I tried to beat the weekend rush for the limited quantity of waffles by ordering online before the place opened. DON’T DO THAT! Since I was a novice and did not talk to the friendly staff about the menu ahead of time, I did not realize the “Cali Mild” was so hot my brother said his tongue was on fire!! The manager explained to us that the “mild” was what we none fire breathers would call medium. We had to take the skin off to eat it. We discovered that the chicken was juicy and succulent under all that tongue-burning heat. So, if you want a regular juicy southern fried chick, just order yours “Plain.” But, if you want something so hot it will singe your eyebrows off, they have two heat levels higher than mild.
Excellent food. Tastes way better than Dave's hot chicken. Friendly staff.Had the shaw special with the chicken breast. Super flavorful. Also easy parking and lots of seating.
Ordered swai fish. California mild seasoning,vegan collard greens and BBQ beans. Food was ready when I arrived for take out, many people coming and going. Very tasty food. Heat didn't overwhelm the fish. Loved the beans. I will go back again. BTW great customer service
If you want Hot Chicken in LA this is the place you need to go! Kim Prince of the Prince family that invented Hot Chicken has graciously blessed Los Angeles with this fantastic restaurant. As a Tennessee girl with many happy memories of eating at her family’s restaurant in Nashville it was such a comfort and a pleasure to get a taste of home. I rarely pray before meals but I prayed over this one! It 100% lived up to my expectations and I can’t recommend it strongly enough! Chicken is fried fresh to order which can sometimes mean a bit of waiting but it’s worth it; at my visit I barely had to wait at all. Love the fruit tea, great, clean, efficient space and service & I love that they have their menu printed on hand fans (you might need one ha ha). Thank you Hotville <3
The food was delish but the staff is AMAZING! Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Super nice outdoor seating and inside was so clean. Thomas took our order and I hope only good things ever happen to this man! He is the best. Loved everyone there and the food was seriously so good.
Definitely one of the best hot chicken I ever had. They make it fresh to order - i liked both spice levels that are between least and high! Although the medium is too spicy for me, I enjoyed the kick out of it!The people working here are very courteous and treat the customers well!Will definitely revisit when I come to LA

I went there in 4/2 around 6pm and ordered the sandwich, sides of Mac n cheese and beans. Food was amazing. I could literally taste the love and energy that was put into the food. The cashier lady was extremely nice and I felt an evangelical presence everyone she walked by or spoke to another customer. 5/5 would go back.
Took my supervisors for a meeting, received excellent food and service. This was the first time i tried the fruit Ice Tea. It is the Bomb Too!
