Our third time here. All tacos were great, have to try tacos De pulpos. Uni was amazing, clam is little disappointed.
What a gem in Los Angeles in an unassuming food hall!!! Located just south of downtown LA, Holbox means “black hole/abyss” in Yucatec Maya and the cuisine is inspired by the Yucatán peninsula. They serve modern Mexican cuisine with a seafood heavy menu. Everything is super fresh and extremely delicious, and to date, they have the best Mexican ceviche I’ve tried in Los Angeles. Also highly recommend the pulpo (octopus) taco, smoked fish taco and scallop taco.

5 stars in NOT enough for this amazing food stall inside La Mercado Paloma in South Central Los Angeles adjacent to USC. I would give it 10 stars easily. LA TIMES has it correct when HOLBOX is included in its list of the best restaurants in Los Angeles.FRESH seafood is an understatement. Gilbert, the master chef and his staff really go out of their ways to provide their customers the best gastronomic experience. This joint EASILY spanks the best Los Angeles has to offer especially when it comes to seafood. They serve the freshest UNI from Sta Barbara, and fresh fish caught locally.HOLBOX is low key MICHELIN rated too!Definitely a treasure in this city of discriminating tastes.
I had a delicious birthday lunch here. The food was so good, I was almost to the point of tears (and I'm not usually someone who cries about good food). The best fish tacos I've ever had, and I'm from California. This is a must-try for anyone in the area. If I were a USC student, I'd end up with even more student debt eating out here all the time. It's THAT good.
Great experience! We had the 6 course tasting service in Mid-March 2022. Head chef explained each dish and presented the food in a manner that was a positive experience. The freshness of the Yucatan inspired seafood was amazing.
My wife and I come to Holbox (Hol-bosh) whenever we’re in the area. My favorite is the baja fish taco, but everything on the menu is really good. The other restaurants at the Mercado are decent too but definitely try Holbox when you’re there. Their sparkling lemonade is ?

located within a food court, the stall here serves authentic modern Mexican seafood cuisine. the fish tacos and the ceviche were both fresh, but the best was the hot sauces available.
