If you ordered omakase, definitely need to add the uni and otoro sushi. Great food with reasonable price. The omakase is 85 per person, additional 15 if you want to add a otoro and a uni sushi.

Hidden gem of a sushi spot in Westwood! Definitely get the sushi tacos, but I honestly haven’t been disappointed by anything on their menu so you can’t go wrong with their standard fare.

The fish is amazingly fresh and the rice-fish-ratio is exactly on point. They serve really high quality food at a very fair price.

I took my BF here for an Omakase date night. The restaurant is nice, service was amazing. The Omakase experience was far worse than I’ve ever experienced before. It’s only $85/person so I wasn’t expecting too much but I’ve never experienced having wasabi placed between the rice and fish for every single piece. Literally every piece had wasabi on it. I enjoy wasabi but I don’t enjoy wasabi in every bite of my Omakase experience.

Great Omakase experience at Hamasaku. Excellent.sake options. Portions were perfect and fish tasted super fresh! Make a reservation through Yelp!

Still one of my favorite omakase experiences in LA at a ~$100 price point. The fish is great and you can tell they have great sourcing, but honestly it's the rice that blows me away. Undoubtedly some of the best sushi rice you can have.

I was actually quite excited to come here for dinner after quickly glancing the appetizer and nigiri options but after the meal I definitely would not recommend this place especially with how many other great sushi options there are in the area. The quality of sushi at this place is quite frankly not worth the price point. I do not mind spending money at all for good quality sushi or food for that matter. The sushi rice was a bit hard and underwhelming. The yellowtail we ordered was tough (was maybe frozen for too long), the expected star of toro was unfortunately too stringy/chewy, and the regular tuna was paper thin. Was hoping to try their uni but it was gone by then. The appetizers were actually pretty good, we ordered the hamachi dumpling soup which was probably the best dish of the night, the crunchy spicy tuna (however expensive for only two pieces) and the miso cod which seemed a bit underseasoned without any accompanying sides to accentuate each bite. Will likely not be coming back.

What a hidden gem! Almost don't want anyone else to find out about this as it wasn't over crowded on a Friday night. Service was fantastic, helpful, honest, perfectly timed. Fish was melt in your mouth delicious. Everything we tried from chicken Kara age to black cod (highly recommend) was amazing.

Absolutely the best sushi in Los Angeles! The kale salad is amazing and their frozen creme brûlée is to die for! Thank you for the wonderful service and great food!!!!

Hamasaku is great! I came here quite late at night. I thought about that one episode of Worth It, where Steven and Andrew came here. Parking was fair enough, as it was a strip mall. Unfortunately, it’s not very visible unless you look closely at the area, thus making it somewhat a hidden gem.As with all sushi joints in LA, everything is hella expensive! However, your money is well spent here. Their absolutely phenomenal omakase is only 85$ [And yes, I said only, because places like Kanpai are in the 3 digits zone, and I argue the stuff here is better.]The starting dish, snow crab salad was bomb! Nice and fresh; a good start to your meal. Sashimi is as fresh as ever, and it’s more like butter than fish! Delicious. Sushi is extremely tasty, and each nigiri piece is unique. Lastly, their cheesecake for dessert was very interesting, and made a satisfying wrap-up.The staff is very patient and the atmosphere is downtempo but not intimate, which is quite uncommon in a lot of restaurants. All in all, I really enjoyed my meal here. Eat the sushi with your hands, and the sashimi with your chopsticks! That makes it better??? [Or so I’ve heard]I will be back. Thank you Hamasaku!
