Stop searching around for a decent, delicious and authentic sandwich!!! Garo's Deli is definitely the right place to go. Took me a while to find a parking spot in DTLA, not surprised, and finally find this Armenian deli shop located in a small alley in St. Vincent Court. I am super excited!!Walking in the shop, I am truly amazed by how clean and nicely organized of its set-up. There are different kinds of fresh bread, choices of cheese, deli meat and sides that you can build your own sandwiches OR you can go straight from the prepared sandwiches on the menu. All staffs are very friendly and helpful, I am given enough time to ask questions and explore all the goodies.I ordered two hot sandwiches: Chicken Club and Pastrami. Their sandwiches are made to order with fresh ingredients such as tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, provolone cheese and other sandwich dressings. Hot sandwiches are toasted in an oven for around 30-45 seconds with cheese. Before I took the first bite, the cross section view of these sandwiches have already won my heart and every bite is full of different textures and layers of flavors!! The only thing to mention will be the chicken, it's a little dry to my standard and I hope it could be more moist and tender next time.As mentioned earlier, the parking can be a challenge if you are not from local. You can also park in nearby lot with minimal fee and walk here for pick-up. There are about 5-6 indoor seating and 6-7 outdoor seating for small gatherings. Garo's Deli is not only a sandwich shop but also a small market where you can buy varieties of sauces and cheese which is very convenient. This amazing shop is firstly opened in late 2020 during the pandemic. Thank you Garo for serving great quality food and excellent customer service.
Service 5/5- Garo is the man and runs a tight ship.Food 5/5- Sandwiches are perfect firmness.
Garo’s Deli can be found in the heart of DTLA’s jewelry district. Garo opened his deli in 1989 to share his love of Armenian foods with everyone in DTLA. Since then, this wonderful family business has been continuing to serve amazing dishes and deli sandwiches. Their bread is fresh baked, their deli meat is freshly cut, and most of their ingredients are locally sourced! There is so much to love about this amazing spot! ❤️What I Ordered: Roasted Beef & Chicken SubAbout the Food: I absolutely love the variety they have on their menu. They have everything from hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, soups, salad, coffee, and more. I opted to get their hot sandwiches! For starters, I love how fresh their ingredients are! The bread was absolutely perfect! Crispy on the outside but still fluffy and warm on the inside. The sandwiches are stuffed with fresh vegetables. The pickle inside adds such a nice flavor contrast to the rest of the sandwich. The roast beef was nice, juicy, and flavorful. The chicken had a more subtle flavor but you could really taste the quality of the chicken they use and they did not skimp on the meat. These sandwiches will definitely fill you up! I am super happy we got to try this amazing hidden gem within the jewelry district. If you’re making a trip to DTLA, I highly recommend stopping by this shop to try out their delicious food!IG: @kristys.kravings
Just ordered a Pastrami sandwich. Owner told me it was the best in Los Angeles. He's telling the truth. Best tasting Pastrami I've ever had. I'm definitely going back!!!
Coming from Queens NY, something that you really miss is the bodegas/delis. At almost every block you can get good sandwiches for a decent price. California lacks many things and fresh delis is one of them. But now there’s Garos Deli in the heart of downtown LA. They are serving up some of the best Armenian style sandwiches. The pastrami was definitely my favorite sandwich of them all. The mortadella sandwich was also delectable and tasted very fresh. The bread is made in house every day. If you love a good sandwich then come on by and give this great deli a try.
EASY AND DELISH SANDWICHES!! This is such a hidden gem in Jewelry district. They serve really nice sandwiches. The making was very quick so I didn't feel like waiting at all. There are seatings outside, which are much more WELL-MAINTAINED and CLEAN compared to the surrounding areas.
Delicious food that has a homemade style. Friendly staff. We had the olive tapenade sandwich (delicious) and a vegan soup which hit the spot perfectly. It has inside seating which was nice as there were several smokers outside and we had to flee indoors (no fault of the restaurant, of course). It has a nice traditional deli feel to it.
Garo's Deli is a long standing amazing Deli/Grocery/Cafe off beaten path down the famous St. Vincent Court Alley among several shops and eateries, but none quite like Garo's.This DTLA favorite has a lot of authentic international influences and cuisine mixed with modern flare. An Armenian owned business with lots of history and charm.Garo's has a pretty solid falafel plate that I'm a fan of as well as new menu item Foul by Bowl that sells out daily.Garo's Deli has outdoor and indoor seating as well as delicious prepackaged eats and sips for purchase such as nuts, pickled veggies, canned goods, savory snacks, desserts and bottle beverages of all types.Taking a turn down this slice of life is a must! Amazing service from start to finish. They do have rushes of customers, but provide you with quality and quality that keeps you coming back.
So delicious!! The sandwich options are endless. Will be coming back when in town.
Love this place. Great deli
