I enjoyed the experience - it has the gourmet quality I expect from a TopChef winner. I didn't like it as much as Main's or Dave hot chicken which I can eat a few times a month but daybird is something everyone should try at least once. The Daybird sauce was unique (some combination of Mayo and strong soy sauce). The coleslaw in the chicken sandwich was good. The chicken tender was awesome.
Szechuan hot chicken sando / medium spice - 5 ?!Daybird is a Koreatown/Silverlake fried chicken place that specializes in spicy szechuan flavored chicken. They are probably best known for putting a giant piece of fried chicken on a bun, adding pickled veggies/slaw and some sauces. The piece of chicken is so large it is like eating two chicken strips before you make it to the bread.Overall, this is a killer sandwich. The frying choice they use create a really nice crispy texture. The szechuan spices are very flavorful and the spice is nice but not overwhelming for my sensitive western stomach.I regret not getting fries to go with it but alas, this time I went for a chicken sandwich by itself. I think I was worried I would feel stuffed if I added fries.Parking is easy on a side street or in their small but not too busy lot. They do not have dine in so plan to eat curbside or in the car because the freshest it hits your stomach, the better.
Very good Chicken sandwich. It is extra crispy and flavorful. I believe it's a whole chicken thigh. Ate it at a nearby park a few minutes away.
Before going, I wondered if the $16 price tag for a chicken sandwich would be worth it. After having it, I have to say absolutely it is. The szechuan flavor is bomb. Chicken was juicy and jam-packed with flavor. If you're sensitive to spice, be careful though; even the mild had a kick. I'd skip the fries and I wasn't a fan of the daybird sauce (tasted too much like soy sauce for my liking), but get the tenders or sando for sure.
The sandwich is soooo good. I got the medium which wasn’t too spicy. Great blend of flavors and perfectly crispy. The daybird sauce is also delicious.
Daybird is another delicious hot fried chicken spot that popped up in LA. What makes this place unique is that it's Asian inspired with the szechuan numbing spicy sensation. There's no dining so make sure you eat it in the parking lot right away to make sure you get to enjoy all the crispy goodness.Daybird sandwich was fantastic. The coleslaw was done very well compared to other fried chicken sandwich spots. The batter on the chicken was vey crispy and loved the spice flavor on the batter. There was such a generous portion of chicken in the sandwich that it stuck way out.
Breading and szechuan seasoning on the tenders were perfect. The daybird sauce provided a good balance of cooling to the szechuan spices in the breading. The hong kong milk tea is also worth mentioning and recommending. Good balance of floral notes and sweetness.Only thing I would say is that the Doordash app/service does not notify the person who placed in a pick up order when the order is ready. Might need some debugging.
Delicious! Friendly staff. The chicken is WORTH IT! It’s huge and the quality is amazing. Quite filling. The sauces are interesting. I love the fries! The milk tea and lemonade were great too! Can’t wait to return!
It's not a bad chicken sandwich. The chicken was tender and the breading was crunchy. The bread and slaw were not very unique. There's no sauce otherwise. I had looked forward to a szechuan kind of heat which was the draw of this hot chicken place but I didn't get any numbing or lip tingle from it. Pretty pricey for a standard hot chicken sandwich. The worst was the $6 lychee lemonade which tasted like very artificial lychee syrup water.
