We have been going to the original Tamales Alberto off of Temple and Glendale for years because they offer the best chilaquiles and cafe de olla.But we recently found out that there are tow other locations by the same own owner, Crepe Effect Café, being one of them. They still offer most of the same great food from the original spot but in addition to their classic Mexican cuisine they offer waffles, crepes, etc. The crepes range from sweet to savory, both of which were delicious!

Nice presentation... that's about all that I can say that I liked. Approx 75% of my food.. crepes, pancakes, waffles required syrup, and I did not receive a single one! I used an online delivery service, so obviously this was not acceptable. I took one bite of each one and could not continue to eat, as it did not taste the way that I expected. Just a waste of money!!
If I just consider the wine selection here, I would give this place 3.5 stars. I've been to a lot of great wine bars. This place has an excellent wine selection, great ambiance, great architecture, great service.
Unimpressed with this place which was such a huge disappointment. I live a block from CrepeEffect Cafe and every morning I walk by and admire how adorable and quaint the restaurant looks from inside and out. In addition, I have observed that there always seems to be a crowd- so I kept in mind to give this place a try for breakfast.
My only negative mark is the service. The young fellows are very nice and friendly, and very responsive when you reach it and ask for their attention...but unless you as a customer do that step, you will be waiting...and waiting and waiting and waiting. It took 10 mins for someone to take my order. It's not something that will keep me from coming back here in the future, but staff attentiveness and anticipation are definitive areas for improvement.
I had pecan pancakes and mexican-style chilaquiles. Even though I enjoyed both, the pancakes were not super fluffy, but they tasted very good. I also tried the blueberry pancakes which also tasted good. The chilaquiles, though, were a bit disappointing because the sauce was not made from fresh green tomatoes, but the potatoes along with the dish were good and the tortilla chips were quite crunchy. The staff is super nice and helpful. The coffee was not fantastic but it did the job.
I have only ever had delivery but it’s been soo good every time! I get the La Montpelier & Jeniel’s sweet because the value is so good you really should get two.
