Had the bartenders (both women) been friendly, it would have been perfect. I actually wrote “it wouldn’t hurt to be nice to customers” on the receipt. GO ANYWAY! The place is a slice of LA history and the sandwiches are DELICIOUS!

I arrived at Cole's expecting to enjoy a meal at a charming old LA establishment. However, I walked away feeling like I was the only one that was interested. The decor, lighting and old pictures allude to a Cole's that was, but the staff couldn't be bothered. The food and cocktails were good, but they were delivered to our booth without acknowledgment. Even the patrons seemed to care more about the speakeasy in the back, than the restaurant/saloon itself.

They never answer their phone...Are they open??? Do I need reservations?? Any health safety requirements to dine in? Can I dine in? Would like to come enjoy food in one of the most historic places in Los Angeles but it seems like they don't have it together. Probably shouldn't waste my time. ?

A friend whom I haven't seen in years recommended this place. We had a good time here. Great catching up.

Excellent bar that has a “Cheers” feel. The food seems like the main draw but as a downtown LA bar it’s pretty great. The servers are awesome and the drinks are on point. It’s very low key and a good spot after a good night of partying but ending before midnight.

Man, oh man! This used to be one of my favorite places… an iconic establishment that I have recommended to all my friends that live or visit LA. Unfortunately, The pandemic must have taken its toll on this place and both the food and customer service are subpar at best… at least when you compare it with what it used to be. It’s been a disappointment from start to finish.

Sad to leave a negative review since the food is pretty great. The service was not though. Half our tables orders weren’t out so they waited to eat and our food was cold by the time we ate. Still tasted good. But could have been better hot if it wasn’t forgotten about.Sadly the “bouncer” at the front wouldn’t allow a service animal to come in and fought too hard to tell us no even though the service animal has all the correct paperwork and credentials. He told us the “manager” said we can eat outside only and when I asked to speak with them he finally allowed me and the service animal in. THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW…PERIOD. ADA compliance isn’t a choice.Think twice before going to an establishment regardless of their history when they can’t seem to wrap their brain around the fact that service matters first.

Recommended by an LA native, wasn’t far from our hotel. Good service, good drinks, a little pricey but it’s downtown. Thanks again

Scrumptious french dip with a classic bar, AND a speakeasy. What's not to love!

Great French dip and drinks
