This was a fun experience! We came here for a date night. The host was helpful and attentive. The drinks were pretty delicious. I would highly recommend coming here with some friends too. The pepino, the blueberry muffin, and the wayward island were all good.
GO HERE. This speakeasy was such a fun experience. Perdext for a date night, celebration, or just hanging out. The drinks were great, ordered a mix of gin, whiskey, and absinthe cocktails (all were fantastic). Live jazz trio made it even better. Friendly staff, and overall affordable. Thank you so much Exhibition room, I will be back!!!
Please fix your reservation system for holiday bookings. Our NYE res was bumped to the 1st, when you’re closed. We have no problem NOT coming to your spot on NYE. We do take issue with making plans at your spot without notification of the bump. Additionally we tried calling AND texting in advance this evening to verify our booking since you had not yet sent your fancy verification password. No response. That would have saved us the time and effort. I also would not be leaving this review if you had just informed us ahead of time. Figure it out.
I would call this review, "Missing the Marc(us)"Last night my partner and I went to the Exhibition Room as it's a place she had been wanting to take me for me awhile given our love for craft cocktails, plus I'm a big fan of speakeasies in general.You'll have to make an RSVP and then get the password. Upon arrival we told the host we were there for the Exhibition Room and he then led us to a phone booth by the pool table where we were instructed to pick up the payphone headset and push the button.Alex the host greeted us and then sat us down inside. The interior of the Exhibition Room is dark and does give off a vibe of a speakeasy.Alex then said that Marcus is the bartender and that he is one of the top 10 bartenders in LA and that Alex had taught him.My go to cocktail is the Vieux Carre so when I asked the bartender Marcus for this cocktail, his response was "can you remind me again what's in a Vieux Carre?" That was the turning point of the night. If you're a top 10 bartender in LA or for that matter any where you should know how to make this cocktail. I get this cocktail at non speakeasies and with ease.We also nursed our first round of drinks for an hour bc the service was slow. Usually bartenders are fast and chatty. I would also say that the Exhibition Room could use more support staff to take drink orders from others in the bar.We found out about another bar outside, a tiki themed bar, which my partner and I checked out but was notified that we could only order two specific drinks only as this tiki themed bar was shutting down.I like the ambiance but give me a better bartender and better service, and Alex did comp us a drink but frankly I couldn't see myself going back. I've had much better service and experience at other speakeasies and cocktail bars.
This place was amazing. I can't wait to come back on my next trip! There was live music from a father and son bartending duo and everyone was super friendly. They also were great about making mocktails for our designated driver that were just as exciting as the regular drinks.
A huge variety of spirits, all of impeccable quality, with service that is almost impossible to duplicate in the area. The space is calming, quaint, and intimate. The phone booth is a little silly, and making a reservation can be kind of a pain, but overall it is a fantastic experience.

Ugh.... I hate to give the Exhibition Room such a hight rating simply because I want to keep it to myself. This place is AWESOME. The drinks are delicious! The Salty Kisses drinks is the ONLY cream drink I've ever had that I had to order two of. The ambiance is great, although I prefer going not on a Friday nor on a Saturday night, simply because more people show up. But back to the drinks, all the drinks I've had have been great. This place is totally worth the miniscule extra effort to get in and totally worth checking out.
Great vibe, drinks, and service. Would have rated 5 stars, but they only sell wine by the bottle, the bottles are very inflated in price, and the prices aren't listed on the menu.
