Perched on a cliff overlooking Crystal Cove along Hwy 1 Pacific Coast Highway is this little Burger Shack, Shake Shack (not the franchise from the east coast). Here you’ll find tasty California style burgers (not dissimilar from In n’out), sandwiches, fries, and custom ice cream shakes. All served up with a pretty spectacular view of the cove and the Pacific Ocean.The parking lot is tiny and the line to park can back up along PCH on a good day. My suggestion would be to incorporate a lunch or sunset dinner here into a day at crystal cove once you’ve paid to be in the state park after a walk on the trails or the beach. There is a stair way that comes up to shake shack from the crystal cove cottage/beachcomber area.
Food was really good but overpriced... Got a small burger, cheese fries, and a shake for class to $25. Burger was great tasting but small. Finished it in like 5 bites. Fries were thick crinkle cut and cheese was really savory but in a small tray. Sodas aren't refillable. Shake was really thick and a third of the cup was whip cream. If you're looking for a premium costing burger joint this would be it. Seating was pretty tight inside. You have to order on a touch pad that doesn't get wiped between uses. Food was great but not worth the cost/hassle.
I'm someone who doesn't mind paying if the food justifies it. It was good, don't get me wrong, but for the price? You're better off at In'n Out. $55 in tasty but tiny burgers for 3 people???
I took 2 hamburger eating reviewers with me to find out about all the hype we been hearing about this establishment. We were amazed and went back for more burgers. This place was our highest rate coming in with a 9/9.5 outa 10 great burgersThe employees here were all very friendly and helpful,
I liked the avocado burger I was served and really liked the French fries that accompanied it. I'm a fan of fries that are cooked to a golden brown and have the right amount of crispness on the outside and soft potatoes inside.
I was taken with the ShackBurger: a nicely grilled hand-formed patty to which I added the rare condiments of Roadside Onions and Cherry Peppers, along with more usual toppings. The others with me commented on the exceptional crispness of the Chicken Shack.
Excellent place to stop for a burger and fries. Don't plan on coming right during lunchtime time or dinner time without waiting in your car for a parking place for a while. Burgers are great, although lacking sautéed onions. Fries are lovely, hot, and crispy! Nice to see the view of the ocean as you eat. Shakes were good too and lots of choices!
It is hard to find Shake Shack near OC.This location is one of the nearest location from OC.When you come in this restaurant, you can find order pads, so you don't need to order menu face to face.Quality of hamburger (? ) patty is better than any other fast food restaurants.I ate smoke Shack, cheese fries and vanilla shake.These are perfect combination to enjoy Shake Shack burger
Fancy name but average shake. There was nothing impressive about my "blacken white." I was hoping to be blown away with something different.I didn't order anything else. However, I will return and see what their food tastes like. I have had plenty of shakes in my life, love them. So, when I come apoun a place that advertises shakes and a fancy one too, I expect that what their serving will be interesting, especially with multiple fancy names of shakes. I can only say, " perhaps that particular shake wasn't their signature shake and perhaps their other shakes are better."In any case, my search for that bomb shake continues.
To start, even before recent inflation the prices were pretty high.The burger itself is ok but since it's about the same size as an In N Out burger I need to get a double to feel like I actually ate enough.Fries are nothing special, just crispy which I did like.Overall it just feels like it's overpriced because of the environment/decor of the place. I'd only go here again if there isn't anything else nearby.
