First time, so we kept it simple and ordered chicken & waffles. We were not disappointed. I enjoyed the crunchy fried chicken (I think he enjoyed it too) & my husband enjoyed the waffles (I wanted more syrup just because I like lots of syrup).Honestly the best food we had this trip to CA.
Ask me if Roscoes lived up to the hype? HELL YEAH! I enjoyed the seasonings on the chicken and the perfect texture of the grits! The sunrise, sunset and eclipse drinks were elite. ❤️❤️❤️ They opened up the bar and started playing oldies and that’s were I was sold! They will only split your check two different ways is my only complaint. But I will drive there AGAIN AND AGAIN whenever I am near LBC! Our waitress was incredible as well.
Cousin came into town for a visit so decided to take her Roscoe’s for a late dinner. It is clean and have room for any size group and best of all they are open until midnight of Friday night. We were greeted by a very friendly staff and seated quickly. The Menu can be a little overwhelming with a variety of choices, once we made our selection the food came out fresh and super fast. The chicken is hot and crispy, my chicken was seasoned well and cooked perfectly.I believe with the experience we had Roscoes will be on the normal rotation of food spots.
Roscoe is an absolute must in the Long Beach community. Family-style meals with buttered corn bread, mac to die next to candy yams won't be the only things to give you itis. Try some fried chicken with waffles and witness your sides explode. Soon after, wash it with a large glass of lemonade and a long walk back to the Hyatt to combat those calories.
4/2022 - Coming from the east coast, it was nice to finally visit this famous franchise, but the food was just ok. We ordered Obama's Special (3 wings plus 1 waffle for $16.99). The salad was not that fresh nor did it consist of anything that was actually on the menu. The menu did not list cornbread or corn in the salad, which I think is a weird addition to salad, but again, we're not from Cali. The chicken was a bit salty. The waffle was good, but the syrup was plain and tasted cheap. If I had to eat here again, I would probably just order... Nevermind, I wouldn't eat here again.
It's been years since we've eaten at a Roscoe's so we decided to brave the crowds for a re-acquaintance. The wait was over 30 minutes long to be seated but justified. Many people come here for their legit fried chicken fix on the weekend and the weekend we came was no different. The food was definitely worth the wait! The chicken was lightly battered, perfectly seasoned, and fried. They were not dripping in grease. The waffles were humongous and tasty, but not crispy enough for my hubby's liking. The syrup tied it all together. We decided to order the gizzards and liver too, and they weren't bad at all. Overall, it was a great experience.
What can I say, whenever visiting Long Beach, one of our goals was to check out Roscoes for their chicken 'n waffles and that's exactly what we did. It was a pretty large establishment and quite dated, but, we went for the food and not the ambience. Our order came pretty quick and it the chicken was moist and quite oily, and the waffles were more crunchy than I would have liked. But all in all it wasn't all that bad. I would have done 3.5 stars, but since there aren't half stars, I rounded up because of it's history.
It’s as big place, but service is stellar! Food out fast and hot, I had the Carol C. Breast and a Waffle! Needed to try there red beans and rice. Oh and to pack it down some dessert Banana pudding! Everything was great! You need to go, like right now. Stop reading and get there! GO!
Good comfort food that touches the soul! And chicken & Waffles is the perfect combination in my book. Nice soft waffles and crispy hot fried chicken. Delicious!
Outstanding waffles and fried chicken. Good location pretty close to downtown Long Beach. For fried chicken and waffles it is a bit pricey ($18). Roscoes can also get pretty busy.
