I ordered some great Poke here and it was OK, the only negative I would say was that it was a little bland, seemed very under seasoned and could have just been a little fresher in terms of mango or added ingredients. Generally decent though, the rolls were a good idea but a bit too big to eat, as rolls, and had to be eaten on the plate.
I was very excited for this place.Don’t get me wrong the staff was super nice but man the fish here isn’t fresh at all!My spicy tuna was like purple pink. Iv never seen tuna that color and the salmon was super tuff…. Salmon tough…..salmon is supposed to be opposite.they had rice that wasn’t cooked all the way.The sauces offered sounded good but wow it was a dissapointed on how much they don’t season it.I spent $50 bucks…… what a waste.
Nice location. Nice interior design. However portions are small.
I had the Open Ocean signature bowl, great options that they have set up! Great staff, and comfortable atmosphere.
Overpriced, quality and options are not the best. You can tell this establishment is suffering. Used to be good
I feel badly writing a negative review during these times when COVID has hit everyone so hard. But what I got at Poki Cat was vile. The scallops were partially dried-out and smelled and tasted fishy, and some of the salmon was obviously older than the rest and had a slimy texture. There were bones in the salmon, as well as a good bit of connective tissue. The salad greens had begun to go brown. On top of all that, they weigh the fish scooped into the bowl, and I suppose there was very slightly "too much" in my bowl because they scooped exactly one piece of salmon back.Honestly, I will never go back because I've never had anything but excellent food at PokeBar, which is right around the corner. I understand times are rough, but this is raw seafood. It has to always be 100% fresh, no matter what. Scallops should never taste or smell fishy that way. I ended up just throwing it out because I was worried about getting sick.
Delicious Poke Bowls. Choose one of there signature bowls or build your own.Street parkingDine in or to go
The food is good, I took 3 stars because they charge you extra if you want your protein cooked! Which I think is silly. The amount of protein should be more for what they charge.
I have never written a google review before, but I felt compelled to do so because of several recent incidents.I am a DTLB local and have been coming to this establishment for 3-ish years. I have always been willing to pay more to eat here (even though I can go down the street where the portions are plenty and much less expensive) because the quality is better and fresher! However, recently, I started noticing that the owner hovers over her staff when serving their customers, ensuring that they are not giving too much. It wasn't an issue at first, and I brushed it off. Another time I went in and ordered my usual, and when I asked for pineapple, she (the owner) gave me only five bits. FIVE. I kindly asked for a little more because if I am paying $15 for a reg bowl, I should be able to. The owner gave me somewhat of a disgusted look and made me feel so bad for asking. Another instance, I went in and was served by a lovely staff member, and the owner was literally watching every single thing she put on my bowl - this time, I assumed she was training her and didn't overthink it. When I asked for two sides of siracha, the owner seemed pretty annoyed that I asked for two and then proceeded to fill one container halfway, and the other only about a quarter. Literally, the most miniature containers, but again, I brushed it off.Two weeks later (5/31), I go back for my usual; I asked for two sides of siracha like I always do, only this time the owner tells me that it costs 50 CENTS each...FOR CONDIMENTS! I asked, "why the charge, and why so much for side of siracha?" (which, in my opinion, should always be complementary and have never been charged for condiments anywhere, ever!). She proceeded to tell me that prices increased at all poke restaurants because of "business." Whatever that means. I didn't purchase the siracha. I walked down the street to Poke Bar (because it is on my way home), and I kindly asked if they charge for siracha, and they do not.As a loyal paying customer, I refuse to be treated like I am asking for too much. I will not be returning to Poki Cat.
Pretty disappointed in the portion size. This was a large 5 scoop order. The veggies were not fresh. Tuna was of lesser quality than othe poke places. Overall low quality, would not order from here again.
