I visited Philz on a Monday around 4:30 until closing time. This was my first time here and it was busy with people at this time.I did forget to take photos, but I will upload some the next time I go there. My assessment of my visit will go over 4 things which are cleanliness, aesthetic, employee engagement and food with an overall thought regarding if I would return to this place:Aesthetic: The aesthetic of this place was definitely like any Philz would be. What would you describe a Philz coffee shop aesthtic as? Maybe like what we thing an art studio might look like in a movie? Like the pastel greens and browns are there, but its sanded a bit to give a rustic/modern feel? Beach workshop, Ya know? Basically any Philz. If you know, you know. There’s not a crazy a lot of space to sit as this is a coffee shop on second street, but if you go alone, you most likely can find a seat inside. A lot of people were working by themselves so it is a really nice environment to get work done and feel like everyone is trying to get work done together. I’m not sure though if its normal for people to do zoom calls in public spaces, but its definitely present here and can be very distracting if you don’t have headphones. I believe that the music here was kinda loud and that I couldn’t get work done without headphones too. The music was good, no complaints there, but like overall, this place gets loud and distracting that you will need another distraction for yourself if you are to sit inside. There is outside seatin which is nice for a lovely day, but I’m not sure how far the wifi extends to get work done.Cleanliness: The place was clean. I did come in the evening when most of the day was done and tables and chairs have been moved around by customers. I mean the place was clean though, the floors didn’t really have anything on it and the tables where clear of everything except laptops and people’s papers. Bathrooms were exceptionally clean and easily accessible to customers.Employee Engagement: The employees were nice, I think though that they had a long day and engagement was low. They were still nice and they got my order in really fast actually. Less talk, faster order, they did well on fast service which i actually liked.Food: I got the Iced Coffee Rose and I’m a fan of it. It doesn’t have rose essence in it so it doesn’t taste like a perfume, but there is a floral factor in there that does add a nice addition to the coffee. I would definitely recommend this coffee if you like floral flavors. If not, maybe the Mint Mojito would better suffice.Overall Thoughts: I like this place mainly on working atmosphere of the coffee shop and the coffee itself. There’s just a ton of people working and you feel motivate to work on your assignments or errands that you need to get done. Just remember to bring headphones because people be talking loud like theres no tomorrow. I would return to this coffee shop for sure.
I loved this place! So bright and vibrant! The employees were plentiful and all were friendly. They had a separate service counter for call-in pickups and in-store orders which was nice. They have lots of vegan options including a fully plant powered breakfast sandwich made with Beyond Meat a sausage patty, Just Egg, and Daiya cheese on an English muffin. They also had a vegan cinammon sugar from Blue Star Donuts along with lots of non-dairy milk options. I was a happy camper!
I like the Tesoro coffee. I found this place 2 weeks ago. I’m addicted now. Yes it’s $5 for coffee but that seems to be the norm now. I like the easy to read menu and it has fast and friendly service.
Great combination of mint and ice coffee! Refreshed and great taste!
Love the costumer service and the coffee and pastries are delicious ?

$5 and some change for a large but definitely the best cup of coffee I’ve had. Great internet speeds as well. Last great views of Long Beach and the pretty ladies.
Like to check out independent shops and hit up this one while in the area. Great coffees.
I’m a long time fan of Philz Coffee. I frequented Philz in San Francisco in the 3 different locations in the Castro. Noe Valley Philz has been my daily ritual since that location opened. I’m moving back to Long Beach , so the 2nd street location will be my go to place. The Philz Chai is the best! We have rainbows in our Philz too!
Let me start by saying that I have been a loyal customer to Starbucks and would only get my coffee there. However, with all these coffee shops growing around us my boyfriend and I thought to give some a try. Philz Coffee happened to be one of them today and I cannot express my satisfaction. I got an iced Philtered Soul Sweet and Creamy coffee and it is one of the BEST coffees I have had to date. I can't believe I drove by all the time not knowing what I was missing out on. I will definitely be back more often!
