I went here while in long beach with my girlfriend and went based off the ratings. I ordered the Twix shake because it sounded super appetizing. After tasting it and falling in love with it, I had no idea it was vegan it blew my mind. Don't let it fool you, you can't tell it's vegan and it's an absolute banger spot for ice cream!!
Really wanted to like this place.First off the place is filthy. Front of the business looks run down has a very weird smell when you walk in. Ice cream case looks like it has never been cleaned. 3 inches of frost lining the inside of the ice cream case. Walls and floors are dirty. Containers with toppings on top of the case were dirty. Walls were dirty. . . You get the idea.Ice cream was just bad. All of the ice creams were very icy and not creamy. The chocolate didn’t taste like chocolate? Tasted like a cheap imitation chocolate flavor, quality cocoa was not harmed in this ice cream. All the flavors we tried were cloyingly sweet. We didn’t finish any of them.Price, $5.50 for a scoop of killer vegan ice cream, no problem. $5.50 for a scoop of sub par icy poor quality ice cream? Finally I can’t get over that they charge 50 cents for a cake cone. Not a special cake cone, the same joy cake cone you’ve had your entire life. They literally cost 10 cents each to buy in bulk. A cup and spoon probably costs the business the same amount. It’s just seems petty to charge extra to have your ice cream on a basic cone. It also seems petty for me to complain about it, it’s almost funny.Overall it just feels like this place doesn’t care and they are putting out a poor quality product in a dirty store at an inflated price.
Family and myself stopped by just before going to long beach, this place is Delicious. Wife and I got Shakes that were on point and my daughter got a ice cream cookie sandwich while the mother of n law got a waffle bowl. Good prices and even better ice cream! If you are debating on some dessert then debate no more, because this place is a great choice!
On the fence about this one? Don’t be! Totally worth it and the prices - can’t beat ‘em for dairy-free goodness.The ice cream itself is at the top of my list! It’s not overbearingly sweet like a regular creamy dairy icecream. It’s light but creamy and sweet at the same time.I can’t explain it! But it’s definitely worth giving it a try - you won’t be disappointed!
I went here based on stars and reviews. I didn't realize until I got there that everything was plant based, vegan friendly.I have no issues with that, my husband hasn't tried anything other than milk based ice cream before. Figured I'd give it a try and see if he notices a difference.1. Smores milkshake with oatmilk- delicious. The person who made it to make sure it was perfection with the cinnamon toast crunch and marshmallows on top.2. Retwix milkshake with oatmilk- my husband liked it and couldn't tell the difference.I would highly recommend this place, they really take great pride in everything they make
UPDATE: Went in to give this another try and we ended up speaking with the manager, David, about our last visit. The service was great and we had a great conversation about the other day. David said he will work on the way his employees deal with the situations and he will make sure his team can reflect the business in a positive way at all times. He handled this well and I hope his employees can learn from him. I would recommend trying their ice cream :)OLD: We were waiting in a VERY slowly moving line for 30 minutes when the lights went out in the store. An employee comes out and says “the lights went out, so these will be the last customers”. There were 12 people in line and we were all waiting for over 30 minutes. When customers expressed frustration with this, the employee rudely asked if we wanted them to serve them in the dark? Everyone in line expressed we were okay with that, but the employee rudely refused and sent all 12 waiting customers home. I will never eat at such an unprofessional business that isn’t able to be flexible when they face MINOR adversity. This Hug Life location needs to learn a few things about how to treat customers. Extremely disappointing they couldn’t roll with the punches and figure out how to serve the last few customers in line. PSA everyone’s phones have flashlights….
Omg it's been here for 3 years!!! But we've just found it. Best anti dairy ice cream ever! They don't just have one or two dairy-free ice creams because they're all dairy-free ❤️ they also have great texture and the flavor is out of this world seriously cannot tell if this is dairy or not. I love that they use multiple milks instead of just one because it creates a much more dairy realistic ice cream.

The best vegan ice cream in Long Beach! I feel so fortunate to live near by the Long Beach location and glad they chose to expand out from their original Garden Grove location into LB.
