Coming from the south my expectation of soyl food is high. I got the chicken and waffles with sweet tea. It was probably the worst version of this meal ive ever had. The waffles were dry. Though the chicken was "fried" it seemed it was just the corn meal breading. The chicken underneath was flavorless. The chicken skin had a boiled gummy texture. Over all this place was extremely disappointing.

Great service and bottomless mimosas.

Good food and friendly atmosphere and service.

The blackened catfish was DELICIOUS. Nice and flaky. Full of flavor. The black eyed peas delicious!! The Shrinp Po'boy was full of nice crispy pieces of fried shrimp. The slaw on the sandwich was nice and tangy. Would absolutely go there again and again.

nice place with delicious food and kind staff. kinda small. they have indoor seating and outdoor which is covered and has heating lamps. there is a fence around outdoor dining which I appreciate because sometimes pedestrians get close to outdoor diners. there was a decent amount of customers, but the staff moved quickly and we didn't have a problem seating ourselves. we went on Sunday. they gave complimentary cornbread muffins and honey butter. they were a little dense for my liking, but tasty. I had the gumbo(very tasty roux and they give you a lot!), the chicken wings(fried perfectly!). we had bottomless mimosas which is served during brunch hours on Saturday and Sunday 9a - 2p. the sweet potato pie is ok. i won't order again. we then returned on Monday. i had the smothered pork chops(they were soo good!), the yams(watery, but had a nice taste), the baked beans(I don't recommend. they were cooked nicely, but the flavor was kinda vinegary). my sangria and pound cake was delicious too. I tried the catfish and collard greens the other person had. absolutely amazing??! the greens were not bitter; super savory. the catfish was fried perfectly; not oily or watery at all. I highly recommend this black-owned place and will be visiting again!

Very nice lunch experience, will definitely return! The cornbread, fried fish, fried chicken & smothered pork chop were all amazing!! ?

I've been wanting to try this place for a few months now, so tonight I went for black restaurant week with one of my friends who was raised in the South. We tried multiple things: Mac and cheese, collard greens, jambalaya, gumbo, and the porky fries. The Mac and cheese reminded me of cafeteria food, the collard greens had zero flavor and were undercooked, the jambalaya sauce tasted like spaghetti-o's & the gumbo had no depth of flavor AT ALL. The complimentary cornbread muffins were a nice touch however they were super dense instead of light and airy like cornbread should be. The best thing we had were the fries. I would have given only one star however our sangria was good, the porky fries were decent & the staff was pleasant. Truly saddened by the lack of flavor all around.

We Enjoyed the food and service. The price and portion of food was perfect. My server was attentive to our needs. She made sure we had everything we needed.

I brook my lady for brunch, and they did not disappoint! Great conversation with the owner as well. This is my new β€˜ Go To’!
