I love 39 Degrees!! I take my girl here for the happy hour and the sushi is fresh and incredibly tasty. My favorite roll that they prepare is called the Lynn roll (deep fried-shrimp tempura, imitation crab, avocado, jalapeno, cream cheese with eel sauce drizzled all over it) and it is amazing!! We always chose the pick 3 item happy hour special along with the pitcher of beer special and we are happy and stuffed.
Consistently disappointing, I live walking distance from here so I give it a try every few months. If your a sashimi lover this place isn’t it. Rolls may be decent but fresh good quality fish cannot be found here.
This place is amazing! Low key authentic type place where the food will pleasantly surprise you with their creative twist on some sushi classics. The service is top notch which elevates the entire experience. Would definitely recommend you stop by!
Favorite sushi place in Long Beach! Great food, great service, prices reasonable. Happy tummy hour every day 3-7.
The Black Pearl is delicious ESPECIALLY with the Kikkoman Soy Sauce. I highly recommend The Black Pearl as a Vegan sushi option (make sure to request the Vegan option since the meal of/on the 39 Degrees menu is originally Vegetarian) without a slimy avocado texture (I like avocado though the texture is not always pleasant in sushi, to me). In my experience, customer service is on point. I think the pricing is decent, and Happy Hour sushi prices look even better. The establishment accepts Samsung Pay.
Honestly came in with zero expectations as we randomly chose a Japanese place to dine in. This place is Vietnamese ran with poor food quality. The one sushi chef did not wear his mask the entire time we sat at the bar. Just so many things were not good. We ordered an agedashi tofu, edamame, eel roll, and tofulicious roll. The agedashi tofu sauce is very bitter and nowhere near authentic Japanese flavor. The edamame came cold with the majority UNCOOKED. The rolls themselves were mostly rice with the smallest portion size of ingredients inside. The Thai tea was half the size of the cup pictured on the menu so please keep that in mind. The Thai tea was also 80% ice.Now let's talk service. We weren't greeted at the entrance and instead awkwardly stood around for several minutes. Once we were seated at the bar our drinks were promptly ordered. We honestly never saw the waiters much after. Drinks took about five minutes to be dropped off. Food came within 15-18 minutes. They forgot to give us utensils....We had our food before we got utensils. We needed napkins and no waiter was around so we took paper towels from the bar to use. Waiters never came to do a follow up. There were people lining up at the door waiting to be seated or food couriers and not a single person in sight to help. It was so bad that one man sat himself at the bar. Okay so past the fact we're being grossly crowded and the chef is without a mask during a Covid epidemic, we had to wait an additional 15 minutes to ask a waiter for the bill.Think it ends there? Nope. Walking right out the door there's vomit all over the sidewalk from their restaurant. It looks like someone also found the food inedible. Highly recommend you avoid this place if you're used to quality Japanese food because you won't find it here.
We came here at 4PM for the first time. Got a table right away. We had their happy hour Calamari salad for $4, which was wonderful! Very fresh, very tender. Their Crunchy Roll and California roll were also exceptional. We also had their Tonkotsu Ramen, that had very flavorful pork, along with a spicy udon with sweet fresh shrimp. The broths for both were excellent! The food was very authentic. Will definitely come again.
Everything we had today was excellent. We ordered about 6 dishes and they all were tasty!
Better than average sushi ?! I ordered a lot and it was ready in less than 20 minutes. Kind of weird that they charge more for a cut roll, but I didn't mind all that much. Kind staff upon pickup as well.
The best sushi in town, friendly staff, my new favorite place to eat sushi in Long Beach!.
