Two things I search for food wise are pastrami sandwiches and chicken fried steak. It is hard to find either one that is worthy of a good review. The Hat is one of them! Best pastrami ever and also everything else. Fair prices and huge pastrami dips good for two meals or to be shared!I know where to get the best ever chicken fried steak but it is in Mammoth Lakes at The Stove. Once a year I get to enjoy it!

I have heard about this place and have always wanted to try it. Had the traditional pastrami. OMG!
Very crowded but well worth the wait. As stated, the pastrami is excellent. Great hamburgers too. One order of French fries could feed a family of 3-4. OUTSTANDING. Great te shirts too.
The Hat hits. Been in business for 70 years and it shows. Pastrami dip wasn't dry or overly salty. However, was well seasoned with spices. Definitely worth a try.
People will give mixed reviews depending on when they visit, who serves, and how hungry customers are.That being said I went to this place during a weekday lunch, and I was not hungry.Not many customers are inside of the restaurant (in spite of "The world famous Pastrami" sign). I ordered the pastrami dip. It was a big (meaty) and a bit salty (expected). A classic establishment. Their pastrami is their namesake, and a must have! Portion sizes are very large, especially with the fries and onion rings, so be prepared to sit with your food for a while. Service is friendly and quick, as they're making hundreds of sandwiches a day. Don't miss out!

The pastrami sandwich was sooooo good! It was a great amount of spice and wasn't dry. Loved it! The drive thru had a bit of a wait during lunchtime which was completely understandable with their amazing sandwiches.
