Visiting from out of town and very sad I don't have a Sammy's at home. Came in on a firday night had a great waitress (forgive me I couldn't hear her name over the band) Great drinks amazing food and had live music but nothing too rowdy.
I was in the area and tried this place for a quick lunch during the week. The food might be fantastic but I have no idea. I sat down not at the bar but in it's direct line of sight and was ignored for about 8 to 10 minutes. In that time I observed the location and I suspect that if I was there to drink or gamble in the middle of a work day, I would have been well served. But that's not what I was there for, and I don't think that they cared too much.
Great bar fare… just what you need at the back end of a hard day. Server Ellie is an absolute gem! Attentive, kind, friendly… she was our server for three consecutive nights, and each night was a joy. Ellie is why we came back, twice. Deep fried beans? Yep. That’s a win. Tater tots? Yep, that’s a win. Ellie? Big win. Sammy’s, do right by your staff… they’re your bread and butter. It’s too bad the drinks were slow. The bartender Paul seemed to be distracted, and when he was reminded that he was tending bar, he was scrambling to catch up, with several orders being backlogged, as was apparent by the number of tickets he pulled off the machine when he finally got around to filling orders. On top of that, he seemed obstinate toward his coworkers: I was in a position to overhear an ad-hoc meeting he called of the waitstaff, where he tried to push blame for slow service on the staff, but from my perspective, it was he that was the weak link. He seemed lethargic, and angry that he was inconvenienced by drink orders. Two stars. I’ll add stars when I hear Paul is coached on etiquette and teamwork.
I'm not a huge fan of sports bars in general, but the drinks were good, the bartenders were awesome, and overall my group and I had a really good time.
Amazing pretzels, good seating, and great simulcasting. Happy hour M-F and the food is rather good. If you like watching horse racing then this is a great spot. Plenty of beer on tap as well.
Oye! This is a dope bar! Really friendly staff, plenty of space for… activities. The music is great and the comedians are… well you’ll just have to see for yourself
I shared this 7 years ago on social media: Weren't that impressed at first, but they totally fixed that! Aesthetically gorgeous inside with a full bar. Our server, Jeff, was courteous and professional. My food was absolutely delicious, and [my wife] seemed to enjoy hers. Bathrooms: A+ on the women's, C- on the men's. If you like horse racing, this place is for you.Current update: When we tried to go back, they had changed it to 21+, so we couldn't get in with our daughter. This place isn't worth a date-night, and we'll never get a sitter just to go.
Food has always been excellent, except my experience in December 2021. I wrote a not so good review because of poor quality food. But today I tried the Reuben sandwich again, FANTASTIC, DELICIOUS,TENDER FILLED!! Just like pre Covid, Thank you Scott!!.
If you like horse racing you will love this place. They had multiple tracks to bet on when we were there but we actually just went to see the Rams game which we did. However the food is not great. At least the fish and chips and chicken tacos were not what we are used to. Service was great.
