The California Fish Grill is a great fish house in Lake Forest. The food is tasty and the portions are generous for a good price. It can get busy on weekend evenings, but they seem to handle it well.
This is my favorite fish taco spot in south OC. 2-3 tacos is the perfect amount for me. I always get the swai fish taco and the battered shrimp taco. It is perfectly made from the texture to the taste. Of course service is always wonderful. I love California Fish Grill and I love this location especially. I really wish they brought back their Taco Tuesday special.
Got two kids meals and surprised to find chicken was raw on the inside! Very disappointed.
Branzino fish was soft and tasty.I need extra sauce.
My girlfriend and I had lunch at the California Fish Grill restaurant. I had the swai fish (white fish with a mild flavor and flaky texture) and my girlfriend had a bowl of claim chowder soup. The swai fish was cooked to perfection. I requested their new chipotle lime dressing on the side which was good - not too spicy. We both had an order of their zucchini with rosemary and thyme which we did not enjoy. Overall, we enjoyed our entrees and will definitely return. Service was good. Prices are reasonable. If you are in the Lake Forest area and are craving seafood, then I would suggest a visit to the California Fish Grill restaurant.
Ahi poke appetizer was different from the one I had before. Maybe the different locations have a different spin on it? Regardless, this one was flavorful and tasty. My white fish was a little overcooked but still good. Didn't care too much for the ahi, but my coworker loved it. Sea bass had too much burnt skin on one side. Also, I've never seen a CA fish grill put your fish on top of your sides for every plate. My coworker got sweet potato fries and brussel sprouts. The sprouts had balsamic on it and it really ruined the sweet potato fries. Also the combination of the fish on top made them soggy.I asked for extra garlic butter twice because this location seemed to give the least amount even when I asked for it initially.
I had a great meal there, their specialty is fish you can can choose your protein and your sides. It’s good to be with family, friends or business
Vile doesn't even begin to describe thefried fish I got today at what previouslywas my favorite multiple locationseafood restaurant. Honestly, the fishwas absolutely horrible. It was a baresliver of a mushy, pasty semblance ofwhat might have been a fish, that washidden within a thick and mostlyinedible crust with the texture and lesstaste than a coconut shell. The onlything positive I can say about it was theygave me three large pieces. The frieswere half cooked and over spiced. Theyforgot the side of rice. Sadly, CaliforniaFish Grill was our go-to place for seafood. Perhaps this food disaster is onlyat the El Toro location. Someday I maymuster enough courage to see if theIrvine location still serves what used tobe superb fried fish.
Great fish. Great shrimp skewers yum
I like this place when I order the Atlantic salmon and various other grilled fish plates from here, however, today, I decided to get a side of asparagus and when I opened the to go box, what I saw was kind of sad. I took a photo of the sticks of asparagus I received because for a $2 side, I sort of expected more than three measly spears of asparagus. That’s all. The food is good though, just sad about the sticks of asparagus lol.
