Can't believe I am writing a review like this but after coming here many times before and enjoying it, last night was the worst experience. Waiter gave kids completely wrong drinks last night, wife's watermelon margarita tasted like zero tequila in it (maybe they forgot to add it) had to send it back. Messed up 4 out of 5 dinners plates for family. Brought wrong items to our table and the bill had items on it that we did not order...? Not sure if it was an off night but really let us down. I usually do not write anyone a 1 star but after having a 100.00+ bill and not enjoying the food it really hit home.

We all (12) enjoyed a Birthday luncheon.The service was adequate for a large group and the food was hot and delicious!Dinner and Margaritas are scheduled for this weekend!
It's always busy which is a good sign of a great restaurant. Staff very pleasant, lots of choices. Great tasty dishes. The soup tasted homemade. Delicious
I expected this restaurant to be on a par with the other Avila’s el Ranchito. I was so wrong. The service is very good. However, the food was atrocious. I ordered shrimp cocktail. The presentation was great, but the shrimp tasted like they had been cooked one week before and the sauce had chili powder. I sent it back. I, then, ordered flan. The flan tasted like it came from a box and was runny. I sent it back, too. My grandson ordered chingolinas, he said they tasted as if they had been reheated. We should have known better than to order food because our horchata was so diluted, the taste was lost. As we left, we saw a large stack of dirty dishes in a shed, and it stank. I wish I had taken a photo. The restaurant was busy. I cannot understand why. I will never return, and will never recommend it.
Fun, family friendly place to grab a bite of some delicious Mexican style food. Big, strong drinks with attentive servers. Outdoor seating with heat lamps, definitely recommend if you're looking for laid back feels and reasonable prices.

Food was amazing and the Cadillac margaritas are the best I ever had! Wish I could take them back to Ohio/Indiana with me!
Luscious foods, prepared to order, plus impeccable service, makes for a profoundly satisfying experience. The tented patio is a great place for a casual meal, especially when it is warm outside.
Great tasting food, ordered a chimichanga with ground beef. Service was good too even though they were fairly busy on a Friday night. Would come back here.
Many restaurants in Lake Forest have been understaffed, often making the wait times quite long. We were delighted to arrive for lunch and find that there were plenty of tables at Avila's El Ranchito, and we were served right away. We had street tacos (very good) and flan (also very good) for dessert. We had a very nice and helpful server. There is lots of parking, social distancing and mask-wearing is excellent, and the price is right. El Rachito is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area.
