OMG best sushi place I ever had . Came to Laguna hills for vacation and tried this place on a whim . Best decision my wife and I made in food choices. Try the octopus,try the bake mussell.great chef and amazing customer service . I will come from the Bay area for this place again.
I wish I could go back years and start over eating sushi here and only here. Haha Took my daughter here the other night and will for sure return with wifey soon! Flavors and freshness at high level. Awesome chef Hiru ! Can't believe he's been there 33 years
Very good sushi, efficient and friendly service, reasonable prices and pleasant ambience. and lots of parking. what's not to like?this plaza, with TJ's, Scratch Bakery and Kotobuki, is now a regular destination for us.
Really good Sushi but owner constantly says, "Jesus Christ" and "Oh my God," to the point it's offensive to Christians. We don't say "Oh Buddha" constantly at a Japanese restaurant out of respect. The OC has largest population of Christians in CA with 2 of the largest mega churches in the entire country. Guess he's unaware of this, hopefully he'll becomes more polite. Will not be returning, sadly.
Decent sushi but rude service. Our first time there, was a weeknight birthday dinner for my wife, and when I mentioned this they became seemingly even more rude, from the sous chef to our waitress. Difficult to comprehend
I just got back from my visit here and I still don’t really have words. I’ve had sushi in Tokyo and this was in an absolute league of its own. Hiro is… well awesome (that’ll make sense once you go.) Just make sure he’s the one that prepares your meal and make sure you order Omakase, because he truly cares.
Are you kidding me!!?? This is the best sushi experience I’ve ever had. Just sit at the bar and Hiro will do the rest. I felt like I was in Japan and the food was unreal just melting in your mouth. No wonder Hiro always says OMG! Awesome!
Here's why I like them so much.....there is very few Japanese restaurants that are run & the food made by true Japanese people. Customers come from all over to eat here.
I have been eating at Kotobuki for 20 years. I absolutely love their food. Service is always amazing. You are always greeted by the Sushi Chefs and the lady who works there has been there for 20 years and is awesome.
Hiro is the man... I have yet to find another Sushi cheff that cares more about his customers experience and flavors. He will take the Novice Sushi Eater and turn them into an overnight pro... His Sushi compares to none.... Ive eaten at all the top spots around OC and LA... I still never find anything like Kotobuki. I learned to eat sushi from his restaurant as a kid.. Im a lot older now and have kids of my own and still make it a priority to enjoy his meals when I can.... Not to mention, I live in NY Now... I still rave about his food, and see him anytime I travel back to OC for work or family time.... His Spicy Shrimp Handroll will leave you wanting 20 more!!.. I would know... I hold the record for most eaten at a single sitting. Hand Down the Best! Love Hiro and Kotobuki.
