Wow! Such fantastic homemade family recipe Mexican food! So fresh and clean-tasting with yummy well balanced flavors. Miles above any industrialized/franchised/Americanized Mexican places. Besides the wonderful food and the chill owners, the atmosphere is lovely! They really know how to decorate and have such an attention to detail. The string lights provide a warm light like you're in a courtyard in Mexico and the church pews and reclaimed wood tables held up by ancient sewing machine stands give a grounding in history along with the style. They even have old theater seating out front for anyone waiting for a table. Also the playlist was my favorite of any Mexican restaurant, classy and classic.Try the flan. ?
I had an opportunity to visit Balvina’s this weekend and was very impressed with the offerings. I had the garlic shrimp with Mexican rice and it had a great presentation along with tasting outstanding. If you are looking to enjoy several Mexican authentic dishes you should come by Balvina’s after visiting Laguna Hills. It is very easy to get to off of the 5 Freeway. Look for the owners who will make you feel at home.
We had a wonderful meal this evening at Balvinas in Laguna Hills. Great menu items and terrific service. Rufino our server was quite attentive and the food cooked to perfection. My wife had the enchiladas pompano with rice and beans and I had the Pescado Veracruz which was a generous portion of halibut cooked just right accompanied by rice, beans and tortillas. The margaritas were also quite tasty. A new restaurant open only 5 months and also serves breakfast. What a find!Highly recommendedThank you
I discovered this restaurant by chance-my friend loves Mexican food, and I wanted to find a different place to try, as in all other Mexican restaurants we have tried the food was too heavy for me. In Balvina's (we went for dinner) we both enjoyed our experience. The food was amazing! Not only super fresh(not pre-cooked, as in other places), but also felt very light in spite of being reach. The atmosphere was especial, design of the place was cool and the service was great! We definitely will come back to this place. I am going to Balvina's with my GF next week for lunch. I wanted to try potato skillet , but I cannot find it in the menu anymore. Hope they still cook it-it reminds me a recipe of my granny. I would put 10 stars to this place, but there are only five :)))
My dad brought me to Balvina's for breakfast, I was very impressed. This little restaurant serves some really awesome food, the presentation was amazing, great ingredients, made with care. The service was great as well. I had the huevos rancheros, I loved their version of the dish! Also my dad got the huevos con machaca and that was amazing as well! The whole experience was excellent. I will be making this spot a weekly breakfast spot for myself, and I would recommend to anybody!!!
Concur with all five star reviews - this is truly an excellent restaurant on many levels. The food is absolutely delicious; major customer service acumen exceeding all expectations; a perfect outside patio dining experience if you desire. We did visit this recently completely remodeled restaurant for both breakfast and dinner on several occasions - decor is elegant and inviting. My wife, daughter, and I can not wait to return with some of our friends. Place is a gem and definitely ranks up there as one of the best new restaurants in Orange County. This is truly a great restaurant with fantastic service - authentic incredibly presented Mexican dishes - at average to low pricing with significant portions being served.
Wow, was this a disappointment. My wife and I ordered the queso which was a skillet of melted cheese, a Margarita from a mix, tacos with tortillas from a bag (saw the cook pull them from the Mission bag), and a steak that was not seasoned. What topped this terrible meal off were the Costco rice and refried beans. Come on, make at least an effort to cook the beans! All for only $90. What a deal. Two stars because our waiter was great.
This place is amazing! The food was absolutely delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine. The chilaquiles were by far the best I’ve ever had and the flan is a definite must, so save room for dessert! But, what made this place so special was the service and attentiveness of the owner Alex and his outstanding staff. Can’t wait to go again next week!
Tastiest Mexican food I've ever had! Busy travelling in California & randomly selected Balvina's for dinner - so glad I did, super friendly staff, outrageously good food (& impressive Mexican beer). Bookmarked for future visits.
My husband and I had a truly wonderfully delicious dinner at Balvina's tonight. Not only was the food truly amazing, the service was impeccable! Balvina's will now be our go to restaurant for fresh, flavorful Mexican. Highly recommend!
