Great food and attentive service. Steak was a little undercooked the first time, but they fixed it and comped our dessert. Drinks were good and strong.
Started with refreshing fruity cocktails upstarts. Great space overlooking Peppertree Lane. Dinner downstairs was creative and delicious. Atmosphere is lovely. Service was excellent, friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend cauliflower, noodles, and scallops.

Being a local resident of Laguna, I had high hopes. Although I've heard mixed reviews recently, I wanted to try for myself. First off, the hostess and our waiter were excellent and the cocktails very good...unfortunately, that was the highlight. The food took too long, and one of our entrees was over salted. Although they offered to remake it, it took too long and we had to take it to go. Note that there were only three other tables occupied at the time...not sure why it took 15-20 minutes to remake a bowl of noodles, but that's the problem; I don't think they understand the entire service experience. I hope they can get it together, because it is a beautiful restaurant with a great bar upstairs.
Seems that our experience was somewhat different than what most of the other reviewers enjoyed/encountered. For our meal, pacing of cocktails and courses, and coverage, were completely out of sync. Food was interesting, though in a couple of instances different than described in their menu. Really wanted to like this place, but hard to return after this experience.
The food at Rum Social is as good as the food at Broadway or Nick's, some nearby other Laguna Beach restaurant hot spots. However, the service was appalling. I hope management reads this review and does something about it, because the chef deserves that guests walk out delighted and not annoyed due to sub-par service.
Nicely appointed. Interesting menu. We had cauliflower, plantains and salmon - all delightful! Don't miss the plantains!
