This sushi meal was one of THE most outstanding experiences Iâve ever had. The food was divine and just as we had hoped. Each course was more incredible and perfect than the last. The flavors were expertly melded and my mouth was in heaven. They changed it up occasionally with not traditional nigiri pieces for a hot beef broth soup and octopus or a cold, very traditional creamy bowl with crab. We were not uncomfortable full afterwards and quite pleased we had made the journey. We will definitely be back, the next time we are in the area.
My husband and I are long time Laguna residents, so we were excited to learn that a new omakase experience had opened in this space on Forest Ave. (a very convenient location downtown). We went to the 5pm seating and even though I requested to be at a table, we were seated at the bar (as was everyone else). The bar actually turned out to be ideal, since it was fun to watch the super-talented chefs prepare each course. The serving team was wonderful, too - very attentive with beverages (beer, wine and sake only, but good selections) and helpful in answering questions. With this dining experience, there will be questions! That was part of the fun, however⦠each one of the 17 courses was like a wrapped gift. Beautifully presented and thought out. The seafood was superb - flown in from Japan, they said. The courses came out at a perfect pace, too. We were never sitting around hungry, waiting for the next course. They were presented in front of us steadily (as soon as one bite was done, the next would be presented). It was a very memorable dining experience and we canât to come back soon. Since itâs a $240 omakase menu only, itâll be our âspecial occasionâ date night place, but weâre so happy to have a place like this in Laguna now!
Hands down the best Omakase. If your in the neighborhood give it a try!!!
What an incredible experience! The food was amazing, the chef very personable and the staff friendly and knowledgable. This is definitely one of the top omakase experiences in Orange County, and I would highly recommend going. I rate it right up there with OMG and both of those a notch above Hana Re.

Five star experience, five star cuisine, five star service! Rebel Omakase is a special occasion treat that brought us back to our visit to Japan a few years ago.
