Amazing service by Omar, the food was phenomenal omg ! I had the chicken chimi and it was so flavorful and fresh til the last bite. Drink was amazing as well. Location is 5 minutes away from the beach. I will definitely return one day. Very positive experience.

Really not worth it.Know that you're mostly paying for the location. The food was fine, no complaints there, but they are trying to nickel and dime you and service has some issues though they were friendly.Margaritas are almost $20 for a very small, mostly ice-filled glass. Food is expensive and is decent. For service, first problem was I ordered a mango margarita and then brought me a not-mango margarita telling me they were out and is this ok. If they had asked me before presenting me with an already made drink I would have gotten something else. I wasn't going to say no at that point and it was a disappointing drink.Second problem was they kept refilling our chips without asking. That would be fine, welcome even, except that we then had 3 charges for $5.50 each for extra chips on the bill at the end. We just assumed that when someone other than your server wordlessly replaces your half-finished bowl of chips that there isn't a $5.50 charge for that. The menu did say that if you ordered more chips after the first it was an extra unspecified charge, so I guess you are expected to read the whole menu, stay vigilant for people taking your chips, and actively stop them.We spoke with the server and I suspect this wasn't the first time this happened... So they comped it to us for "customer satisfaction".Would not go back.

This place was one of the highlights of my trip. I had the braised pork rib enchiladas and they knocked my socks off. Each bite got better I would highly recommend going to Carmelita’s! My gf got the steak fajita tacos and wow i don’t know how they could get much better than that. It was more than worth the long wait!!

Service was spot on; Drinks and food delicious; Nice seating outdoors for our group with the heaters well placed; Beautiful sunset view..... just be careful with seating of small groups; They do not separate tabs and they automatically add 20% gratuity split to each....but only1 receipt displays that charge. All other parties almost added another 20% since they were not made aware and didn't see the 1 tab where it's displayed.Just be aware and you'll enjoy your dine ?

Right across the street from Laguna Beach, excellent food & Margaritas , a little pricey, but splurge, great quality ! If you “ like” this post , please “ Like it “ ty

food tasted like chipotle, wasn’t impressed with menu, pineapple jalapeño margerita was good though

Though it feels pricy for Mexican, the food was so good. There is a simple black bean dip with the chips that I totally got addicted to. Tatum, our server, was very sweet and took great care of us. I'm sad I'll not get to return until my next trip out here. It was a lovely dinner.

We had passed this location earlier in the day and it was packed. We went by for an early dinner on a Saturday and we were seated quickly outdoors. I loved that they had comfortable chairs available to sit on outside. So many times outdoor seating is hard metal chairs that are so uncomfortable. They did have some metal seating options but also had cushioned chairs which were fantastic. When we shared there were vegetarians in the party they proposed vegetarian options of some menu items including the burrito. They even asked what my sister wanted in the burrito. If you can't tell from the pictures, FYI, the burritos are huge!!! The chips and salsa were tasty and even came with bean dip. No bean dip for the vegetarians though as there was bacon fat in it. It was very flavorful. The ribs fell off the bone and had wonderful flavoring. Very happy with our meal and service.

I've been coming to Carmelita's for 11 years. My feedback is going to come off as non-actionable and probably too blunt, but I feel the need to say it.I'm the type of person who will choose one restaurant over another based upon how good their chips/salsa is.My wife and I ate dinner here tonight and they've changed their salsa from red to green. It's sour, way too spicy, and in my personal opinion, absolutely gross.I won't be returning after 11 great years because of this change.I've provided this a 1 star, not because of the taste of the main course, or the service from the staff, but because of my disappointment of losing a place I love to eat at.

Late lunch visit on a beautiful day in Laguna Beach - Omar In the bar mixed up a super tasty Michelada! A couple other cocktails paired with Crab stuffed jalapeños (wrapped in bacon!) and Carnitas delivered a relaxing visit. All was wonderful and fair prices for the quality and environment. Recommend for sure!
