Recently moved to the area and we heard good things about the restaurant. Everything we ordered was very good, flavorful and detail oriented to each dish. Two dishes stood out, one was the sashimi, not sure what kind of sauce they had on there but it was fresh and light that brought out the sweetness of sashimi. The second was branzino, it came with pickled celery pieces and mustard seeds that brought brightness to the dish. One thing I didn't enjoy as much as I would have liked was octopus. It felt like the octopus was perhaps marinated too long, or something, it lost its unique texture and lacked its chewiness, it felt mushed. The cocktails were good. Service was good. And we plan to visit again to tryout rest of their dishes.
If you get a long hair stuck under your branzino, don’t expect any apology or way to compensate for the inconvenience. By the time you get your fish your friends will be done with their dinner. Again no apology or way to compensate for the inconvenience. Very disappointing.
The ravioli app was so-so, but the octopus was very fishy. The manager came by and asked what was wrong, and you could tell he was frustrated. When we told him, he said "I don't know about that...but I guess I take it back". Also the server asked if we wanted a little bit of grilled bread with the ravioli, but did not disclose that they charge for it and it was not on the menu. I simply wanted a nice birthday dinner, but was treated like garbage... and fed garbage.
Sad to have not tried food here as read about chef owner from Queens NYC and excited to test the menu. Horrible entry and seating system with over a dozen folks ina mosh pit type entry with no organization or recognition or arrival time or reservation. One look at the menu and the big prices against the lack of quality service that out all patrons on edge at entry led to the exit door. Walked down the street toward the beach and had a lovely meal at e neighboring restaurant with ocean view and great service that were both lacking here.
We visit Laguna from time to time and are now thrilled to find a fabulous restaurant. We did small plates on Tuesday - all portions very generous for sharing and wonderfully prepared. Service excellent as well. Atmosphere casual and comfortable with open kitchen. Highly recommended! We felt it was very fairly priced especially considering how great the food is. Kudos to Chef Amar. Parked right next door in bank lot (allowed after bank hours).
The service was the best I've ever experienced. The raviolo was the best appetizer I've ever had and the chocolate and praline dessert was exceptional. The dry aged New York steak was cooked perfectly but, the sauce was a little heavy on the salt. The brussel sprouts side was good but, the sauce dominated the entire dish. All in all, on a scale of 1-10 this place was a solid 8.5 and will definitely return again.
Just got back from dinner tonight. The food was out standing. The presentation for every dish is a piece of art, and the quality is spot on. My hubby got the pork chop dish, it is pretty thick, yet very juicy all the way and well seasoned. Mine was Branzino, juicy for a thin filet and so fresh. Totally enjoyed every bite. My only feedbacks were 1. we both dont even know our sommelier's name, he just showed up and opened the wine bottle we brought, and dont even know our waiter's name either, he showed up and told the special offers and took orders; 2. He picked up the tab soon after I signed, kinda tacky and somewhat ruined the experience of the night; 3. I would add more starch to be proportional with the protein.
Food and service was so good but we were seated at a high-top table for large groups and the chairs were sooo uncomfortable. They were like those metal chairs that you sit on for art class in high school. By the end of the dinner (it was a long dinner) several of us were just standing up at the table because the chairs were so uncomfortable. I was looking around enviously at the rest of the diners at the restaurant because their chairs looked so padded and comfy.
We made a reservation to celebrate my husband’s birthday and requested outdoor dining. We arrived at the restaurant and was told the table outdoors was reserved for someone else. We left after much discussion with a very rude man at the door. About 15 minutes later the restaurant called and asked if we were coming to our reservation. I explained they just told us a short time earlier the table wasn’t ours. The management has no idea what they are doing! I dined at this restaurant the week before and they recognized the other couple with us who dined there often. It’s too bad the chef is terrific but the hostess and manager are terrible!! I will never return after the horrific treatment, it was so embarrassing!!
Broadway is by far the best dining experience we have had in Laguna Beach! We had dinner there last night and quickly made reservations for a second. Highly recommend treating yourself to sitting at the chef’s table to witness the magic. We had the Branzino fish which was de-boned expertly and simply delicious with seared skin. Oh and the oysters! Plump, sweet and creamy! The atmosphere is welcoming and fun. We enjoyed great conversations with the chefs and the team. What an awesome find, we look forward to going again! Amazing hand-crafted cocktails too!
