Unhappy with order out. Although I wrote it down in special instructions that we needed 2 set ups with utensils napkins, etc. the manager told me at first that I didn’t check some box. Then I pressed him to review special instructions for set ups and he finally saw it. Told me never give out paper plates. (?) My tough luck they missed my special instructions. Would not make good by sending some over (less than a mile from delivery address). Can’t rate food…no utensils to try it. Strongly suggest you go elsewhere for takeout. Plenty of other options in the area!!!
First timers with friends. This is an unpretentious place (i.e., low key) but we loved the vibe especially on the covered patio. Our waiter was excellent. Our food was prepared properly but seemingly lacked much flavor. Perhaps I'm just not as familiar with authentic mexican food as I thought but my Michoacan entree just didn't have any zip to it. I'm willing to give the place a second try though.
Pretty good little Mexican food joint. The place was absolutely packed when we went. Their front of house was basically non-existent and seemed super frazzled. The older gentleman in line in front of us was actually helping the two younger guys working seat people, which was kind of funny since he didn't work there. Hey at least we had entertainment during our wait. Service once seated though was very fast! Food also came out pretty quick. It was tasty. Not the best I ever had, but pretty good. Not sure I would wait in a 20 minute line for it again, but good. We all got chile rellenos and tacos. Wish I had realized you had to order sauce for chile rellenos, never had a sauceless chile, but I covered it in salsa and made due.
We called to see if reservations needed, said no, but had short wait to seat party of 7. Food worth the wait, large portions & delicious. High noise level near bar made conversation difficult.
Appealing location in Old Town La Quinta with quiet outdoor seating. Not the most distinguished Mexican food at dinner, but I am told the breakfast burrito is outstanding and plan to try it.
I have been going here since it opened. They have open other Mexican food restaurants nearby, but nothing compares to El Ranchero.
Great location, plenty of parking in the area. Food was beyond better than what I expected. Chips and salsa can never go wrong once you are seated. A family of 5 was able to enjoy food for a great price $60. Something that now and days isn't really seen. The food was just as great, empanadas are amazing, down to the cheese quesadilla for the kids. Don't let the small look of the outside fool you, lots of seating areas inside and out. Please visit, you won't be disappointed.
I've never had a bad meal here. Everything is delicious. Check out the blackboard on the outside wall for specials and hidden gems like the albondiga soup.
Great Mexican food restaurant. Margaritas were good. Standard Tex/mex variety of meals with tacos, fajitas, burritos, and combinations. Good taco chips and dip served before meal.
Fajitas were out of this world. Nice sizzling platter, grill marks on meat and vegetables and great tortillas to match. The pico was also fresh and combined many flavors. The guacamole could have more depth in flavor and would have made my 5 ⭐️
