They're great as long as they aren't busy. If they're busy they have a hard time managing the flow. Wouldn't allow me to sit alone at a table (#capatilism) so I happily put my name down to wait for a seat at the bar. After waiting about 15 minutes some rando takes the bar seat when it comes open and all the brunette at the front could do is say sorry with a snide tone and look when i ask about it.Not sure if I'll come back and if i do it will not be during an event in the village. It was one of my favorites in La Mesa village, but service matters even (and especially) when you're busy. My recommendation is to go elsewhere when the village has events. .
Chill spot. Food is good. Make sure to go for the chips with your meal. Nice beer selections. A little pricey
We had been there last Thursday, the owner or manager Brenda was very rude, we sat in the bar area and was told we couldn’t sit there and had to go check in at the front, however the people sitting next to us had sat down right before us and got to sit down without having to check in, that’s was the complaint the second complaint is we had to get out of our seat after 90 minutes. More than likely will be the last time I go there. Thanks to Brenda.
Food is great Highly recommended this place
Been here a few times and it’s always been enjoyable. Usually we just get munchies to eat with our beer but occasionally a full meal. The poke nachos were good. The mushroom Swiss burger and the ahi salad bowl were excellent. They have a decent rotating beer selection so you won’t be disappointed. Downtown La Mesa parking can be a mess so I’d recommend the parking lot that’s about 1/2 a block behind the restaurant. Enjoy!
Best place! good food and the service is great!
I would leave less stars if I could for this place… tried to eat here one time and the waitress spilled a drink all over the gentleman next to me, splashing it on my feet and pants too along with broken glass, didn’t get any real apologies from them despite having to move away from the charred glass. Then their payment system broke so we could not pay with credit card or debit and we had no cash on hand so we had to send one person to the bank which was not near to get the cash and drive back to pay for the meal so that we can leave… horrible service, and the food & drinks wasn’t really anything to review well about either, would recommend not going here to everyone. And I definitely myself am not coming back here, ever again. Worst memory at a restaurant I can remember.
Short Rib Nachos were delicious. Server /bartender was DEREK .Nice guy and and greeted us as we got to our counter seats on the open patio. The Rose drink was delicious perfect for a sunny day on the patio. By the way made with real strawberry not some sweet syrup mix. Bonus.I've been in the industry 14 years and know a server we can get stuck in work mode and prepping for a busy rush.Remember yelpers, it's okay to engage in the conversation first a simple smile or hello is okay to do and it brightens everyone's day.
We had the short rib melt with chips, fries and beer. Very tasty.
I hate to write this because we used to go here all the time, but just had an awful experience here. We were assigned the bar tender as a server, who forgot about us multiple times, over charged us, and had zero customer service skills. She knew she screwed up and didn’t offer any apology or empathy toward how upset we were. Going to start looking for other brunch spots in La mesa now.
