From Our food blog Eats With the Moody’s Had an amazing lunch today!! Great fish market and restaurant in La Jolla! I had a Dungeness crab and shrimp salad with a house vinegarette. Lisa had the ceviche with fish and shrimp. After that I just had to have some fish tacos. I ordered two tacos…..one with grilled Ahi Tuna and the other with grilled Mahi Mahi. The best fish tacos that I have ever had. Everything was very fresh and excellent!
Could not imagine life without El Pescador! We started coming here for fresh fish a few years ago and never stopped. The staff are incredibly friendly, the fish is fresh and the food from the grill is good. For home, I recommend getting the nova lox for bagels and lox, king salmon for grilling on cedar planks, and the tuna steak for making tuna tartare. For eating in, the clam chowder, calamari, bread, burritos, and sashimi are also all excellent.
Delicious food oh my gosh. A bit on the pricy side was far as meals go, but very very tasty. The tortilla chips come with literally the best pico de gallo I’ve ever had, highly highly recommend the tortilla chips. Also the clam chowder was fantastic.
First time eating here. Walked in to Sammy Hagar on the surround sound so I know it was going to be great!!! Amazing array of some of the freshest seafood in the cases up front. My daughter ordered the grilled calamari and grilled veggies. I ordered the clam chowder and 6 oysters on the half shell. Reasonably priced, fresh, delicious seafood! Five stars all the way. Thanks to the wonderful attentive staff for an enjoyable meal and atmosphere.
The inside is not, but can be a little loud/overwhelming for me (because of anxiety) so the outside seating area was perfect and very cozy!The food was fantastic. The quality was great and it was cooked perfectly. I especially reconnect the squid steak, octopus, and scallops. My boyfriend loved the clam chowder too.The staff is very friendly and patient.Overall probably the best place I've been to in the last 3-5 years. It can feel a little expensive at first, but I thought the price was very justifiable and the food was very worth it.Would be perfect for a casual and relaxed first date.
Fish market doubles a seafood restaurant. This is where you can find fair-priced and fresh seafood dishes. Although, you won’t find any sophisticated seafood dishes here but grilled seafood is still amazing. I love to appreciate fresh seafood with minimal cooking done to them anyway and this place delivers great grilled seafood. Definitely a must try if you are in Mission Beach area.

Had some excellent fish tacos and cioppino at El Pescador Fish Market in La Jolla. The fish tacos were made from very fresh grilled tuna with a spicy sauce and the cioppino was full of white fish and well seasoned. Pleasant outdoor space to eat on the patio after ordering inside. Located in a convenient central part of downtown La Jolla.
We live out of the area and come here when visiting. Went there 4 times this week. Fast Casual Service with a very friendly staff. Extensive selection of fresh Callif. fish with fish Mongers on site. You can buy fresh fish to go as well. You order at the counter and food runners bring your food to the table. Service is fast. You can have your fish as a sandwich on an excellent fresh roll, on a salad or as a dinner with sides. No fryer on site so no fries or fried fish. Grilled or Blackened, They have large fish tacos with lots of fish in them. We also tried the Salmon Burger, Cioppino which are excellent. We also tried the Grilled Octopus ( very well done). They also offer nice local beers and a selection of wines and some specialty drinks like Watermelon Lemonade. ( House Made). They take allot of pride in their work.
