Taquitos and rice were very dry. The rice was crunchy and both had no flavor to them. The only savior was the fish taco. Great prices for the 1lb burritos. I would recommend to pass on the taquitos though.
Authentic, Spanish speaking taco place. Really good tacos, they have Mexican coke if you’re into that. Deserves to have a long line outside (probably does at meal times, I was there mid afternoon).
This place really got the burrito right! I got the California burrito because of the reviews and it is really spectacular. The two salsas were great. Both are hot.The burrito is huge and a good mix of texture and flavor, not dry, and I think the potato portion of the filling is French fries which works well. It's much better than that sounds. I live in El Paso, Texas and this compares well to the best local food there. The place is very small, with two tables and mostly takeout. It is decorated with a sense of humor. I really don't understand any criticism in the reviews. I just love it although I was planning to get seafood tonight. I will go out of my way to have this again.
Love this place! Good people, great good and the fact you can sit outside: PRICELESS!! Came from SLC and it never disappoints!
Our regular pit stop, on the way on the beach or just if in the area. Shrimp burrito is the best I’ve had anywhere after 20 years in SoCal. Horchata is awesome here too. Other options are good, but Taco Stand down the street is better to my liking … if you ok to stay in line for 40-80 min. Obviously highly recommend Don Carlos.
Delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine! Their burritos and rolled tacos are 10/10 and they have a ton of vegan options available! I would absolutely recommend checking them out if you're in the area ?
The California burrito is the way, the truth, and the light.Forget going to the other taco place on the same street. The one with the 4 hour line.Go to Don Carlos and put the best burrito you've ever had in your mouth.
Not impressed. I had the mushroom quesadilla. The mushrooms were good but there was just a smattering of cheese; therefore, it was as bland as bland could be, even with some added salsa. I did have high expectations that were not met. The interior aesthetics left a lot to be desired; there was a massive pile of boxes in the seating area. Weird. Very nice staff. But we have been eating authentic Mexican fare for decades and this didn't raise the needle for us at all. I marvel that a place like Chiquita's that served amazing food had to shutter, while this one is still standing. hmmmm
Good food and really nice staff. I like their burritos and tacos, red sauce is the best, has a really nice toasty flavor. I usually go there for my luch from work, even that I work in another restaurant.
Best quesedillas in La Jolla in my opinion. I love them. Fair prices.
