Really sad that I chose brick & bell this morning. Difficult to order, rude customers kept cutting me off and the employee didn’t acknowledge me standing there. Ordered oat milk latte, she took my order down wrong. Finally get the latte and it just tasted like oat milk, could barely detect the espresso though it was a 16 oz with “2 shots”. I expressed my disappointment to the cashier and she just kept telling me what a latte was. I am quite familiar with how one should taste, as I drink lattes often. She did not acknowledge my disappointment or offer any resolution, I ended up buying another shot of espresso so I could enjoy my latte. The breakfast wrap was the best part of the whole experience but there was some unidentified crunch in it that was very off putting; it was as if I was biting on sand. Not the experience I was hoping for, cannot recommend.
We (a group of four) were in La Jolla for the first time to see the Cove and the seals. Looking for a quick breakfast, we found this place and had lots of tasty things to eat while sitting at a sidewalk table on a pleasant morning. Lots of locals were coming and going, so it was a popular place. I had bagel with cream cheese and the other had "delicious" acai bowls and maple scones, which were really good.
I stayed in La Jolla for 3 days and each morning, because my hotel did not offer any breakfast or coffee, I walked to Brick and Bell for coffee and a pastry/bagel. They are quite popular. They have very good brewed decaf and the pastries I tasted (blueberry muffin, scone, bagel) were all excellent and fresh. Service was pretty quick with several people working behind the counter; the cafe was very clean.
I was visiting La Jolla and went to this cafe at 5:30 am and the owner was so nice. The staff makes their baked goods everyday at 1am and they open at 4:30am. They are amazing. I also brought up the low prices especially for this area! He appreciated this because they haven’t changed their prices since 2017 and due to inflation it can be difficult. He wants to hold onto these prices for as long as he can! Anyways great food, staff, and prices so i recommend checking it out.
Perfect. Everything that I have ever had here is great. Food is always fresh and precisely prepared. It’s all very reasonably priced. Most comparable food in the area is significantly more expensive and, to be honest, not as good. But in this situation the food, atmosphere and pricing are not the biggest assets. The restaurant is owned and run by a quality group of people, most notably Peter Walry He is always friendly and does more than his part to make sure you are comfortable and being well taken care of. Not to mention that he is a big football supporter! In addition to all of this he is very supportive of the community and those in need by making regular donations to those who need our help. If every business was operated like this we would all live in a better place.
A lot of high maintenance BS in this area… but this place cuts to the chase— smoothies coffee sandwiches soup pastries. Pretty reasonably priced. Exactly what we needed
Great place to stop by for some pastries, coffee, and a sandwich. Indoor seating not available, but there are tables on the sidewalk and patio. Brick and Bell was bustling with lots of activity when I visited on a Saturday afternoon. I got the half BLT sandwich with the chicken grape salad combo. I got the sandwich served on ciabatta bread, which was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. This was probably the healthiest meal I had all week, and I appreciated all the fresh ingredients that was put in the food. Customer service was also great and something worth calling out, since someone in my group had to wait over 30 min for a breakfast burrito, but the staff gave us some scones as an apology for the mixup (scones were light, cakey and full of fresh fruit!).Overall positive experience for a quick and healthy bite to eat.
Great Latte, amazing cranberry scone(best I've ever had), awesome breakfast croissant! Enjoyed the neighborhood atmosphere and well.
I ordered and acia bowl and I got a small bowl maybe a tablespoon of granola 4 small pieces of banana and three slivers of strawberries. No blueberries. Won’t go back.
Awesome local coffee shop with great pastries! Peter (owner) was really nice and we talked about football (soccer) for 20-30 min at 6:15 in the morning. Would highly recommend stopping by, especially if you're up early in La Jolla since the open at 6 am.
