The location is very nice and food is pretty good. One member of our party didn't receive their food and we didn't get any of their food and our server didn't check in so we had to flag someone else down. Everyone else had finished by the time they had got their meal.
Absolutely the best sushi restaurant I've been to. I LOVE sushi. I could eat it every day. We try a lot of different spots to compare. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and not all covered in fried tempura or sweet sauce. That had unique flavors and combos. I WILL be back. The saki was delicious and came in a "koozi" to keep it warm. Oh and their Boa Buns are ?
this is the worst sushi restaurant. Little creativity, the proteins on top of the speciality rolls are cut way too big, shrimp tempura comes to them frozen b/c you can taste the freezer taste, hot items served cold; fried items taste oily. There are much better sushi restaurants in SD
Great place with some seating that offers a great views of the sea and of the beach! Staff was super friendly! I definitely recommend this place.
I got an ocean side seat and the view was INCREDIBLE, the music was perfect, and the steamed buns were so cute! Very filling and worth the wait
I'm giving this restaurant only three stars and that generous considering all the not so good experience we had. 1st, the Matcha gree tea we ordered only tasted like water. I could not taste any matcha or gree tea. 2nd, my order came in 25 minutes after my wife's food was served. So she was almost done by the time I got mine. 3rd, the appetizers I ordered came in last, after my main course. And finally it was my birthday, and my wife told the waiter and not even a small complementary cake, LIKE MANY OTHER RESTAURANTS ARE OFFERING THESE DAYS. The food is not that great. So my recommendation, go some place else. I will not be a repeat costumer.
Typically my boyfriend and I visit the Harumama that's in little Italy, but this location is just as good! And parking is a teensy bit easier ? but great atmosphere, delicious food, great service. While we waited for our table, we walked around by the cove which is beautiful no matter the time of day. And gives you a little exercise before sitting down for some delicious sushi. ❤️
Do not miss this place! It was fantastic! My family and I wanted ocean views and great food. We got both. Wonderful vegan options for myself and my mom, great service, and the views were stunning. Price was as expected and far more reasonable than some other surrounding restaurants! Every member of my 6-person family loved the food they ate. Again, the vegan options were so good as was their sushi and noodles.
The food. The views. The trendiness - and the authenticity! Blue Ocean does an excellent job walking the line of trendy and authentic.The food is prepared expertly by clearly experienced sushi chefs, and their inclusion of creative bao and dumplings makes the experience that much more valuable.. but top it off with a beautiful ocean view and a well decorated interior? We’ve got ourselves something special.You’d better watch out, though, because Friday night waitlists can sometimes be upwards of a 2 hour wait!Thank you Matt and Friends for curating a full course surprise. It was delicious and I’m sure I will be back soon.
If you want to try this place, make sure you allow plenty of time to dine. Service is very slow. Staffs are not attentive. The place was not busy for dinner. We waited about an hour before our food came out. We ordered edamame (this take a good 30- 40 mins to come out) a roll and 3 orders of character buns (take about an hour to come out). Their character buns are really cute. Good for instagram. Taste not as good as it looks. Ordered a chilli garlic edamame -the pods came in a bowl of chili soup, We eat the top half of the bowl . The rest are too messy to eat, Chef special roll was good. However, it did not come with pickle ginger or wasabi which is odd. Location is great - overlook the La Jolla cove, saw beautiful sunset. Food is just average.
