Old school diner. I love this place because it feels like it’s right out of the 70s. Food is exactly what you’d expect and at a good price too. Skip Dennys and IHOP and go here.
when you come: ask for ..joana. she is very kind and something else is an angel. ask about the specialty of the house? And which is make you feel at home.
Their cupcakes and mini cupcakes were a big hit at the offices I took them to and the staff are great about pairing bookings with napkins, crockery etc. They very much wrote kitchen reservations in short order. I usually don't stop and eat but they pack quickly and take away the reservation. The breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, and espresso are all always good and the pressed chicken, bacon and brie with caramelized onions on a French baguette is the best sandwich I've ever had!
Great comfort food. The best hot homemade soups any day of the week. Great tasting food and great specials. Closes at 3:00 . It's friendly and feels like eating with family
If you're looking for home cooking, this is the place. No ambience, but I don't want to pay for indirect lighting and fancy linens. They have one chef only; you think the orders would be way behind, but he's been doing it since the great flood and everything I've had tastes great. They always have specials, and the prices are more than reasonable.
We made pepper shaker our go to favorites place on a Saturday morning for breakfast/brunch. Just love this place for its homely feel and like stepping back in time to the sixties. Food is always freshly made to order and I absolutely love the frittatas. Good selection on the menu and the homemade croutons are to die for. Very nice owners who both work and help out at the restaurants and the staff are wonderful, some having been there several years. Friendly feeling and everyone gets known by their first names. Occasionally wish they would have a shake up on the menu but otherwise I look forward to my weekly treat. Personally think it's the best breakfast joint near Fullerton. See you Saturday guys! :-)
First visit to Pepper Shaker. Went for breakfast Sunday. Wasn't very busy at all. Overall impression: "Hmm... Not bad... But not really good either." Three stars seems too few, four stars seems too many, so let's call it 3.5. BIL said was just a typical diner, and he's right. I prefer to support local restaurants vs. chains like Denny's, but that's kinda what it felt like: like someone copied a Denny's 30 years ago and never updated or changed anything over the years. The staff was nice, but everything was just kind of, okay. Passable. Unfortunately the place looks kind of dated, and when driving by it in the past we weren't even sure it was still open for business. Definitely feels like the place could use some updating and a spark. Some innovation and energy. New dishes or at least interesting tweaks on the classics. There are so many different ways to make french toast instead of just using the standard cheap bread and same old batter recipe. And as much as I appreciate the effort to offer extra choices, serving sorta-lousy pre-made cinnamon roll with a side of butter had us all look at each other like ?...?♂️. I'm not saying they need to do a collab with Cinnabon, but they can do better than that.I really want places like this to succeed, and maybe they are doing fine financially, but my gut tells me this place needs to make some changes to survive long-term. I'm sure we'll be going back at some point to try other dishes, and I hope I'll be able to provide a more glowing review next time.

You know that good old Midwest diner vibe, well this place is it! The food is great and the staff is friendly.
Honestly the food was okay but most definitely the atmosphere was hostile. My best friend and I brought our kids for lunch and we felt like they didn’t want to deal with us. Our napkins were tossed at us our coffees were dropped down aggressively and spilled over a little. Not even 5 min into our meal the check was dropped. Customer service is very lacking, our waitress just seemed like she wanted us gone from the moment she came to our table and only checked on us after she brought the check to see if we were ready to go.
