Went by 3 days ago only to find out the sushi bar was closed due to health department inspection. So ok, I go back yesterday only to find a closed sign on the door!!! Hmmmm... health dept the day before now closed (sign in the window said closed for maintenance). Give it one more try today and get there at 1:55 pm to order take out and they won't serve because they close at 2 for lunch. Well I used to eat there at least once a week but moved and happened to be in town. Won't go back to this cockroach infested place again.

Super nice staff and very quickly receive order. Cute authentic place, lots of locals and Japanese here so I’m guessing they know good sushi! Large pieces of sashimi and giant rolls but just not much flavor... like it was previously frozen. Teriyaki chicken bowl was massive. Definitely will had leftovers. The green tea mochi was delish!

This was a pretty nice spot for some Japanese food. The waiter was very nice and attentive. The food is brought very quickly as well, and tastes very good. The dine-in entrance is in the back, which is a little weird. Tamago rolls were amazing here, one of the best we tried. They have plastic utensils, which is strange. The service is fantastic, though, very attentive and responsive. Good sushi, slightly over grilled teriyaki chicken, but still good, nice green iced tea. We had a to-go order, which was well-packed and brought after we finished.

Taiko Lunch Special was so fulfilling for the whining and eager stomach like mine this afternoon. I took a drive from Laguna Beach which was about 20 min. away from this restaurant which is at 5 FWY @ 133 interchange. It was a very pleasurable drive, very peaceful and natural. This route is one of the rare scenic highways remaining in the middle of Southern California.

If you get the chance, eat here! Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. This was the best Unagi (eel) I've ever tasted! Perfectly grilled and the sauce was heavenly.

Didn’t try any sushi as we only ordered Udon. Well priced and delicious. We were also given miso soup before our food arrived, it was very good especially with the cool weather. Customer service was good despite it being full. Nice atmosphere as well. Would come here again.

Huge long time fans and patrons of this establishment. It was my absolute favorite restaurant all my life and have always respected & adorned their traditional Japanese approach. You feel it, you taste it. I understand this pandemic has really altered many things for many places. However, just about everything has changed with Taiko. Unfortunately not for the better :(1 profound example: recently whenever we've ordered even the spicy tuna hand rolls (which are SIGNATURE here) they have been quite different. Can't put our fingers on it, but my husband as well as I equally feel the same just about every time now. Everything is slowly evolving to taste and feel more generic. We're so so sad to see it. Even still, I can not bring myself to give our beloved Taiko anything less than 5 stars for years & years of incredible service, quality, and wonderful experiences. But as a loyal patron, I feel it’s important they know that some of us are noticing their decline, we aren’t happy about it, and we deeply hope they return to homeostasis.

Went twice in the past week after many years. Got there a half hour early for lunch and many folks were already raring to get in. dine in Entrance is in back of restaurant. Week day lunch was great. Portions are a lot! Tempura was served hot and went well with the dipping sauce, abundance of sesame chicken meant we took leftovers home for dinner. Only concern was the combi A beef on the skewer was rare, hardly cooked. Veggie salad rounded out the meal. Enjoyed it a lot.Advance Take out order for Mother's day was ready when we arrived 15 minutes early. Delicious, meal fit for moms and everyone. No one went hungry, no room for dessert.

Wow, amazing sushi, even for the non-initiated who have always avoided sushi because of the fish. Service and quality was amazing with plenty of choice for everyone - and as always we ordered way too much, but everything was great. Highly recommend the scallops. Easy to get to and plenty of parking.

Let me paint you a picture. I'm excited for my sushi, I set it all up and....no Wasabi!!!! Packets of soy sauce, ginger but now Wasabi!!! That's makes no sense.
