Craving a hot platter of sizzling meat and rice? Look no further than Pepper Lunch!It was a little wait for a party of 2, about 15 or so minutes to get seated. Once we were seated, food took an additional 10 or so minutes to come out from ordering. I ordered the Two Meat Sizzling Curry with beef and seafood and a fried egg (a $1.50 extra).The meats were seasoned well and paired along nicely with the curry, which was rich and savory with a hint of sweetness that complements the savory flavors. The rice was perfectly cooked and the sizzling plate it was served on was, in fact, sizzling hot!For $16.50 a plate (cheaper if you size down to the Single Meat), this place will leave you fulfilled. The portions are not too big, or too small--they're just right!
Got the Kimchi Beef Pepper Rice, it was good, not extraordinary. The beef and rice were good and the spice level was perfect.I would have liked if they were more detailed about every ingredient in each menu item. I was a little bit lost on what to order because of it.The portions also feel a little bit small to me, it needed more of the beef. I know that they know the beef portion is too small or else they wouldn’t have option to increase meat by 50% or 100% in the menu.It was good and i’d come again if someone invited me but I probably won’t crave it. Service was good and the order came to us really fast.Giving 5 stars cause 4 seems unfair… 4.5 stars maybe.
This was my first time coming here and I have to admit that the gimmick they have is pretty interesting and resulted in a pretty good experience. I think the service itself was five star but the price to quantity ratio wasn't exactly what might be anticipated. Regardless of the portions, the food itself tasted great. I'd recommend this place if you like heavy rice based food.
Very unique and fun concept, perfect for Irvine.Great customer service, interactive and tasty.The standard size is not going to totally fill you up if you're very hungry, but it's enough to for a light lunch.Remember to remove the paper border (which is there to remind you not to touch the hot plate), otherwise trying to work the food becomes a bit awkward ?We got 2 dishes, the signature beef and the curry beef and the price was quite reasonable - $12.80 each.
We eat here every time we're in OC. Was hugely addicted to this place when I lived in Japan, & am stoked one exists close where I live.The portions are bigger than their Japanese counterpart, & the beef quality is a bit different as well, but still fantastic.Highly recommend at least trying this place out, even if you've never heard of it before ?
Good food for a decent price! Quick service and turn around time. It opens at 11 like most restaurants in the area but it does get packed real quick , so please plan accordingly.

I haven't had this place since I lived in Japan. My babe took me on a surprise date day/night and brought me here for lunch! I thoroughly enjoyed it! May they come to Jacksonville or Orlando, FL?
What you see is what you get.Decent meal, hot and fresh..but for me, nothing memorable. It certainly isn't objectionable in any way, more like everyday home food in that your not going to go Wow.
I am very disappointed Pepper Lunch in Irvine, I ordered Pepper beef rice, the menu pictures show more meat than actually portion comes with. the meat in plate only several small pieces maybe 1/4 or 1/3 of pictures show, for this price I feel I am been cheated.
