Great cakes and breads
Been to this location a couple of times since I moved back to Irvine and it's changed...not in a good way. When you walk inside, you are not greeted or acknowledged by the staff and there are literally no customers which is odd for the jj bakery I remembered. It's obvious that there are changes with the staff and the quality of the pastries reflects that. Nothing looked fresh so I stayed away from any pastries with cream or meat...I bought a moon cake and when I got home to eat it, it was very dry and old...who knows how long it's been sitting on that shelf. I also bought a black forest slice....half the pastry was good. I know with COVID a lot of businesses cut corners to get by and I respect that...seems that JJ bakery at this location is doing that. The "whipped cream" topping on the top was stiff, dry and when you eat it, was very oily. What was fascinating was that the girl that boxed my cake had dropped my box on the side but the topping of the cake didn't even have a dent in it....magic. The cream in the middle was what I remembered, it was real cream and that is what made the cake enjoyable. I've been to other locations for JJ bakery and so far the Irvine location is the only one that I have had a negative experience. Unless they retrain the staff, clean up the place and bring back the quality in their pastries...not sure I will give them another chance until then.
Itried a few bakery items and cake slices. Nothing omiressed me. Some far too sweet. Unfortunately no good coffee.
Their mango mousse cake is fire!!!
Asian-style bakery with lots of soft "milk" breads and yummy filled stuff such as red bean buns, mochi bread, etc. Cafe is closed but you can get takeaway and sit outside. Sadly, every single item in the store is wrapped in plastic.
Bought frozen bao several times, we preferred the veggie ones. Sometimes it's good as we expected, however, sometimes the inside stuffing seems to be weird... not look like fresh ones. At the moment I bite, it was pretty surprising, not in a good way. The quality is not stable, a hit or miss to give a next try....
Very delicious traditional Asian Bakery
Love all their cakes and bread
