The taste is okay. But the food there are especially served for those who want to lose weight, because only very little rice will be provided in each meal, this is not kidding, very little. Then you have to add one more rice which costs you 2.5 bucks, wow! What a smart owner! After reading so many positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!! I ordered today's special "Spicy Chicken", unlike what others say and their picture shows, mine obviously didn't come with egg and minced pork on top of the rice. The cabbage is not much more than plain, and the spicy chicken is the most horrible one we had. The coating is just weird, not that is it not fresh, but it is just NOT RIGHT, and the sauce is a joke (who would put that kind of sauce on spicy chicken (椒麻雞)? This is not your normal 椒麻雞!!!). This dish is just not acceptable, not to mention the quality of rice was also average. Me and my wife ate half of the box and threw all the rest away for our own good. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.The pork intestine noodle soup is too thick and salty, but it is ok, however I would not order it again unless I cannot find a better one elsewhere in Irvine.In terms of hygiene, I think the smell inside the restaurant is very wierd. I am not sure it is the re-used frying oil or mildew, but it smells like a humid cabin where cockroaches lives. I don't smell this in Han-Lin Tea Room. In fact the spicy chicken and the cabbage smells somewhat like that, so I assume it is the oil they use (how often do they change oil?), so I would simply avoid this place altogether. So sad! I was hoping to find an authentic Taiwanese restaurant in Irvine, and thought this could be it, but I am not sure if the pandemic caused their quality went down or what, anyway it is just VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Great Taiwanese restaurant. Price is reasonable. Runs by Taiwanese. They have so many options. Highly recommand.
I got food poisoning from this restaurant two days ago. I suffered from vomiting and diarrhea after eating mined pork dry noodle and sweet and sour soup. I didn’t eat any other foods in last seven hours and had symptoms of food poisoning after finished food from this place. I’m still not fully recovered. This place might have some hygiene issues.
