VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Food is ok but trash service and manner. Got the wrong food but paid more for my original meal and they never want to get me a refund. Also called several times but no one answered for awhile. Later solved out (I got overpayment refund) but still, their attitude was so rude and never recognize their mistakes but just kept denying their mistakes. This unexperienced guy, server David has no idea how to deal with the customer but only likes to lie and deny his problems. Such a waste of time. Never visiting again here. NEVER.
Located in the strip mall with the 24 Hour Fitness center, and Montessori center, which limits your parking options. Currently take out orders only, and limited outdoor seating area. Authentic Japanese cuisine, and great lunch specials combinations! Cold soba noodles with a generous bowl of spicy tuna. The spicy tuna sauce is completely addicting; creamy, spicy, and fresh yellowfin tuna!I loved the dipping sauce for the soft soba noodles.
Fukada only offers take out now. Food is still very good. Restaurant opens at 11:30 but you can call around 11:15 to place your order.
This place is currently takeout only.
As someone who goes here all the time the udon is consistently great, and they serve the best udon in Irvine. The noodles are nice and chewy, and the broth is good. Their spicy tuna bowl is also a nice side dish to go along with the udon. When I used to dine in, I did get a little uncomfortable since the tables are so close together. The middle of the restaurant is even worse since there is one big table with connected seats where anyone can sit. The layout is not ideal, but it was worth it for the udon.Recently since the pandemic they have been doing takeout only and no dine in. They now give you the udon and broth in separate containers so the noodles don't get soggy, which is great for the taste, but it's unfortunate because it equals more costs and waste. They also raised the price of the spicy tuna don and it's now an extra charge when you get it in the combination menu. Even with price increase and takeout only, the udon is just a good as before and I highly recommend this place!
Eh. I wanted to give a better rating, but was disappointed from the beginning when I discovered they didn't offer indoor dining, but I get it. What I don't get is tasteless, flavorless food. I got my goto's, Age Tofu and Gyoza to start, and should have left it at that. Soggy Gyoza, super disappointing. The tofu dish was ok, but it could have used more fflavor. I tried chawanmushi for the first time here, and, just, no. I won't be back.
Fukada is amazing, I go here every week (sometimes multiple times per week) and I’m shocked that I haven’t written a review beforehand. They are one of the only authentic Japanese cuisine spots in the area, the quality of the food is amazing and the portions are generous. If you enjoy crab or don’t like raw fish and don’t want the carbs of the rice I would recommend getting the Crab Avocado Salad, it’s delicious. Sometimes they don’t answer the phone and it’s because they’re busy, they’re THAT good. Regardless they’re pretty fast so stopping by for a takeout order is pretty easy but may have a bit of a line during lunch hour. Highly recommend this place, you won’t be disappointed!
It's alright I guess. Me and extended family ate here on my dad's birthday and all of us ordered some variation of the lunch special. I think I ordered the tanuki hot soba and the eel dish. The soup was super fishy. If you like fish then more power to you I guess but for me it was not my cup of tea. I moved on to my eel dish only to find one small slab of eel as a garnish to a big bowl of rice. On the bright side, the eel was fantastic and made the experience a little better.
I used to LOVE this restaurant, it's not only the amaizing food but the whole experience. I used to drive a 2 miles out of my way.... After all COVID restrictions are lifted 4 month ago, the indoor dining experience is still unavailable. The current management is not intrested in bringing it back. The takeout service is disgusting.Outside tables are not maintained, the attitude of waiters is horrible....they charge the same if you eat out of plastic bag next to trash can or in a beautiful simulated little Japan... but the last drop was lack of regular soy sauce, only less sodium. Its saddens me not comming back here.
My curry udon was served with the curry sauce blended with the udon broth. We were expecting it to be thicker, like previous restaurants we ate in, but overall a good and flavorful soup. There was not as much curry filling as I would have expected with just small pieces of carrots, green beans (something different) and sautéed onions. Sliced, raw green onions were placed on top but the white stalks seemed a bit tough to chew for some reason. Noodles were a bit thinner than I was used to but overall had a good chewy texture.
