This Is a very busy, popular restaurant; even on an early Wednesday evening there’s a 1/2 hour wait. Wood stools were thoughtfully set up on the shaded side of the restaurant’s exterior for waiting patrons to rest their feet and while away time. The interior was open, bright, and bustling. We ordered the large prime beef combo with thin sliced brisket, ribeye steak and seasoned boneless short rib for four of us. Service was brisk. Appreciated the brisk, attentive table-side service: our server masterfully cut and grilled the meat to perfection. Tasting it, we could tell right away it’s prime quality meat: tender, juicy and soft - excellently seasoned to enhance our dining pleasure. The banchan dishes were surprisingly quite average. The kimchi stew was also not impressive. Watching egg being cooked a la tamago in the metal tray ringing the grill was intriguing. The cold draft Sapporo tasted wonderful with the hot dishes. Just wished there were some leafy green vegetable to balance out the protein-rich meal.
Forget what you've experienced at Gen or Gyu-Kaku. If you want a true Korean BBQ experience visit Baekjeong Irvine. The quality of the meats are higher, the condiments better, the service stronger. And when can you have Korean barbeque that you don't have to cook yourself (although that's often part of the fun)? The wait can be very long here, especially on the weekends, but well worth it. My only minimal complaint is the only offerings for beverages that are non-alcoholic are Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, hot tea and tap water.
A cousin fixed up a family dinner here. Close to two hours waiting as they had a no reservation policy! :-) Patrons were seated in a queue all around the side of the restaurant!Excellent choice of meats and sides and very prompt and efficient service. We had two tables of 4 and two servers on either side doing the prep/barbecue which was interesting as each set tasted a bit different!Good selection of alcohol at the bar which was closer to the entrance. The restaurant was buzzing and there were folks waiting even after we left post 9pm!
We ordered beef combo. The short rib is fantastic. The rib is like melting on my tongue. We also ordered beef brisket stew. That stew is delicious too. The soup made the lunch everything that is supposed to be. Good experience. Will come back soon.
My first time here and fun/interesting. Food was good and tried many things. Liked how you could order the types of protein and they fix on the grill. Music was a bit loud for my taste but everyone throughout was enjoying themselves. You didn't walk away hungry!
This was a really fun and delicious place to eat. We ate here on a Friday night - put our name in when we got there (7:30ish) and sat down to eat about 2 hours later. We ordered the L beef with beef brisket soybean paste stew and radish kimchi cold noodles. The bbq’d beef was awesome and all of the fun sides and dipping sauces were incredible. We were 3 for dinner and left very full. I definitely recommend the soybean paste stew since you’ll have a choice. The flavor is unique and very good.
We were told by our friend who recommended it that it was all you could eat. They hurried us through the meat so it made sense there would be more coming. But, no. It was hurry up and get out.We ordered the steam egg without being told there was egg already on the grill. Another waste of money. All in all, the flavors were very good. But definitely NOT worth the price.
I was really excited to try this place after hearing all the hype from Ktown and 626, and drove a long way to come. I called a head of time to confirm the hours for New Year's Day, but there was just an automated message saying that the restaurant was open EVERY day including holidays. But after arriving, to my horror- the restaurant was closed. Lights out. There was no mention of a closure on their website or phone line, yelp or google page. What a waste of time. Do better please, for your customers next time.
Korean delight... also a name for this place. At least that's my opinion.Great service and staff! The food was amazing! We shared the combo meat and it was awesome! We got the small and seriously we three were stuffed!First time there and the staff was woeful in explaining and directing and suggesting. Truly a wonderful experiment all around. All of it was amazing and we'll certainly be back! Highly recommend!
This was my first Korean barbecue experience and was outstanding. Different meat cuts perfectly cooked on the barbecue in front of you. Highly recommend
